LSU (and the state) need better leadership imho. If UA can survive (and thrive) in the recession then there's no reason why LSU can't. UA is better than ever, and I hope that trend continues now that Dr. Witt is gone.

Okay well here you go ya Yankee frick. How much did you have to pay to attend UMich? I have attended UA for free. I actually make around $1500 a semester going to school because of excessive scholarships. I have been able to see three national championships, probably a fourth, since my time as a student. I have banged a lot of hot sorority chicks (I know, you probably didn't see many attractive coeds in your time at Michigan). I have never had to walk to class through snow. Oh yeah, I have seen Alabama demolish both of your state's football programs. I live a comfortable distance form the shitehole of Detroit.

And finally, I just got a job offer for 80k/yr. From my pov, my school isn't so shitty.

so much insecurity in the post, but i guess that shouldn't come as a surprise. Michigan is a much better school than Alabama any way you choose to slice it.

Alabama is a liberal arts college.

Auburn is the engineering and vet school in that state.

LSU is liberal arts, technology and engineering, veterinary medicine, etc., and is one of the best research institutes on the planet.

Also, the last third of the article shows how LSU is "pulling away" from Alabama - in research dollars, and most importantly, much higher salaries for alumni that bama's. LSU ranks 34th out of 176 public schools in mid-career salaries.

So the Tuscaloosa Advocate can create these sensational headlines, but everyone knows they are full of elephant feces.

Alabama is a very good university in some areas, but so is LSU. Time will tell if budget cuts don't keep hurting both, and higher education as a whole.

You can graduate from Bama, work at Mercedes, and live in Tuscaloosa your whole life. Or, You can graduate from Michigan, work at ObamaMotors, and live in Detroit you whole life (probably around 6-7 years before you get stabbed) I just get really irritated by Big Ten grads and their unfounded elitist attitude. Frick the Big Ten. Frick the Rust Belt. Frick north of the Mason Dixon. I guess Alaska, the Dakotas, and Montana are alright. I'm just fine being compared with LSU

Not to mention the most overrated football tradition in college football history.Isn't it 1 NC in the last 60 years for those guys?

Don't kid yourself, Alahunter. Do you know why big businesses like Airbus, Ingalls, Thyssen-Krupp, and Cisco are in Alabama? It's because these businesses do not pay taxes, usually get tax credits, and because Alabama has some of the lowest EPA standards in the country. It's not because Alabama is some superior place to be or because the people are super cool and educated, so cool your jets.

Anyone lecturing on the point that Alabama has a worse EPA record than Louisiana is a lunatic.

Did you attend Alabama? I hope not, because your reading comprehension is incredibly poor.

Yes, I graduated from Alabama with a prestigious degree. My reading comprehension is just fine.

I have no dispute with you personally but maybe you should consider your own reading comprehension skills. My point that anyone who considers Louisiana to be better than Alabama from an EPA standpoint is a lunatic pretty much stands on its own merit.

I just realized, as far as the higher academic world is concerned..... Alabama vs LSU is a bit of a cripple fight.

Alabama is a great school, but come on.

Your response had nothing to do with what I said. Did anyone compare the EPA standards of Alabama and Louisiana in this thread? Maybe someone else did, but I didn't.

Do individual states have different EPA standards? The EPA is a federal agency last I checked.

I'll make this easy for everyone.

University of Alabama > LSU

State of Alabama > State of Louisiana

This thread is silly, really. I love LSU, but the University simply isn't comparable to UA.

Please. You flat out disparaged Alabama's EPA standards (despite EPA being the agency that administers a uniform national set of requirements and standards). The implication certainly was there. Or maybe I just inferred it based on a logical assumption from what you types. My statement addressed the fact that you seemed to imply that the enforcement of such standards were unevenly applied in Alabama or maybe not to the level in other states (like LA, since that was the topic at hand).

But hey, my reading comprehension skills I learned with my English minor coupled with my Applied Physics major is perhaps not worth as much these days.

The standards are uniform, but the enforcement state to state is NOT the same. We can argue semantics, but not substance. Alabama AND Louisiana are some of the worst offenders. Take your unfounded inferences elsewhere.

And, there is no need to strut around and display your feathers. You have a great degree from a really good school, but no one would call it "prestigious".
