You started spewing off on cities within the state, I thought that's how it worked.

I mean, who wouldn't sell their first born to live in a place like this?

The wonderful, business friendly city..

Great housing...

and of course, the wonderful culture...

Don't kid yourself, Alahunter. Do you know why big businesses like Airbus, Ingalls, Thyssen-Krupp, and Cisco are in Alabama? It's because these businesses do not pay taxes, usually get tax credits, and because Alabama has some of the lowest EPA standards in the country. It's not because Alabama is some superior place to be or because the people are super cool and educated, so cool your jets.

What does it matter why they are here? The only thing that matters is that they are here. Why did GM and the steel industry start in Detroit and the midwest? It was because they could use the infrastructure of the state and the travel offered by the Great Lakes. It works both ways. People are generally the same everywhere. Businesses just go wherever is cheapest and offers locational advantages.

Oh, I agree. I'd rather see these companies pay their fair share of taxes, but I'm happy for Alabama that they are there.

They're both flagship state universities, nothing more, nothing less. As far as state schools go, there's only a handful that academically rise above the others - Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, and a few others. US News & World Report has UA listed at #36 and LSU at #68. Not sure what any of this has to do with football.

You can graduate from Bama, work at Mercedes, and live in Tuscaloosa your whole life.

Or,

You can graduate from Michigan, work at ObamaMotors, and live in Detroit you whole life (probably around 6-7 years before you get stabbed)

I just get really irritated by Big Ten grads and their unfounded elitist attitude. Frick the Big Ten. Frick the Rust Belt. Frick north of the Mason Dixon. I guess Alaska, the Dakotas, and Montana are alright. I'm just fine being compared with LSU

I would imagine many engineers from Michigan do indeed work at GM in Detroit.

Where? The booming metropolis of Montgomery or Huntsville? That's why your school is a shithole. Michigan opens doors to New York, Chicago, San Francisco, LA, and so forth. $80,000. Gee goolly, that's swell. Get the frick outta the way with your median salary you slack jawed yokel. Michigan doesn't have time for that. Alabama opens doors to Birmingham, Mobile, Jackson, Atlanta. Woohoo! "Big business" laughs at Alabama. Michigan is superior to Alabama in every single academic category and you know it. We, literally, have billions of more money than you you inbred, toothless hick. We are a national player. You are a joke. You are a fraud. Your school is a shitty state school. Face it. Your school is shite. Face reality.

GTF outta here!!! I went to Alabama, live in the Dallas, make a VERY good living and have many friends in the same boat. I have friends in Chicago, LA, Hawaii, and ALABAMA who are all doing very well, and they all attended the University of Alabama. To say that the UA is a shitty state school is extremely ignorant!!! So why don't you get the frick off of our board and go eat a rat poison omelet...

So GUMPS compared lsu and bama is cool but when a michigan grad compares mich and bama , it's not cool. The gap between michigan and bama is bigger than the GAP between bama and lsu.

Detroit is a game changer as far as comparisons..it is like Beirut.

Hell they speak more Arabic in Dearborn than they do English. I have no problem with legal immigrants except they want to come here and make things like the old country rather than be proud of who they are and assimilate.

Alabama has grown its enrollment over the past decade from about 20,000 students in 2003 to just under 35,000 today. LSU, on the other hand, lost about 2,000 students over the same time, putting its current enrollment at just under 30,000

MTSU is the biggest and fast growing school in the state of TN, but no one is going to pretend like it is the best state funded university in the state either
