Nope. But then again, we don't shoot fellow fans or beat our wives up after a loss, either.

I had three Gump friends tell me this year that they'll never step foot in Jordan-Hare again.

I went there years ago with a girl I was dating, whose family was all Auburn fans. 1995, I think your homecoming? So Western Michigan.

I enjoyed the experience there, but the smell of the surrounding area (not inside the stadium) was brutal. Is that still the case?

I'd prefer it if Auburn wasn't the thorn in our side, but considering he made that comment as the program was in the midst of a 5 game losing streak (6 including year 1) and from 2008-2012 he won 4 of 5 and ran off 2 Auburn head coaches, I'd say he succeeded. I'm pretty happy with it.

No doubt we struggle at Jordan Hare, and it is frustrating as hell (and equally delicious for them). But every great coach/program/team has a thorn in their side, and traditionally Alabama's has always been Auburn. It's part of what makes the rivalry so great.

But conversely, you’d likely argue that winning by 5 points is dominating? Just to be clear.

5 points isnt a dominant win.

However, LSU was in control that entire game and it wasn't as close as the final score indicates.

Of course it does. Auburn has gone through 3 coaches since Saban arrived. Bama bookended Auburn's first national championship since 1958 with two of our own. Of the 8 times we've beaten them, only one of them has been by less than two scores - and we won the national championship that year. Some of those scores:

36-0
42-14
49-0
30-12
52-21

That's a blood letting for any head to head series, much less a rivalry.

Yeah that's dominance if you leave out the 5 losses.

And yes Bama fans are gonna point us to the championships and that's fine. But to the point of the thread, Auburn has been the only team Saban hasn't dominated in his tenure at Bama.

When AU has a descent team, Bama plays tight, shitting the bed with mistakes in Jordan Hare.

This. My biggest frustration with CNS is how often he comes out tight in a game like this. I get that this year it was Mac Jones first start on the road, but we came out throwing all these short screen passes for the entire first quarter. Of course when we finally call a play with a deeper pass its across the field and he overthrows the receiver and its a pick six. The first completion we had that was for more than 10 yards came with 5:02 left in the first half!

Same thing in 2017. Us coming out in the second half and scoring a TD was the worst thing that could have happened. If it had been a 3 and out like most of the other drives were I think we might have seen the switch to Tua then.

This. Gus Malzhan is making 7million a year and he's lost AT LEAST 4 games in 6 straight seasons

He's clearly had the better program but yes, you are correct, our inability to win 2/3 to 3/4 of our games at Jordan Hare had made it impossible to say we have "dominated" Auburn. Frustrating, but you just have to tip your cap to Auburn. They've never played scared of us at Jordan Hare. Ever.

Depends on how you measure it. He made Bama the premier program in the country so when someone looks at Bama and AU it makes AU look like an inferior program dominated by Bama's suuccess.

That doesn't equate to "dominance" head to head vs Auburn.

Well, as it turns out, Saban never mentioned dominating Auburn in the head to head W/L match up. That's what the fans wanted to hear. He said we work to dominate them and in everything we do, we want to be a champion. We've dominated them in just about every feasible category, and I'd even include the head to head - considering the 5 losses were by a combined 29 points, and the 8 wins have been mostly a series of skull dragging snuff films. At one point, Auburn went 3 years out of 5 without scoring a single point against our starting defense.

Some areas of domination:

Division Championships
Conference Championships
National Championships
Bowl appearances
Bowl victories
Playoff appearances
Playoff victories
Total wins
Total losses
Conference wins
Conference losses
Number of weeks ranked in the AP
Average ranking in the AP
Number of weeks ranked in the Coaches Poll
Average ranking in the Coaches Poll
Number of weeks ranked in the BCS/Playoff Rankings
Average ranking in the BCS/CFB Playoff poll
Number of total NFL Draft picks
Number of First round draft picks
Number of draft picks in Rounds 1-3
Heisman Finalists
Individual Award Finalists
Individual Award Winners
AP & Coaches All Americans
Consensus All Americans
Media and Coaches All-SEC selections
Recruiting Rankings
Attendance
Tree Poisoning

So, sure. If you believing Alabama's 8-5 head to head record negates the idea of "domination" keeps you warm, go right ahead.

It think it's pretty clear we've dominated them on a level the rivalry has maybe never seen.

LSU fans know how difficult it is to win in that stadium and how weird things happen there and not usually for the good if you are the visitor.

Oh, most definitely.

Fortunately for us, though, they cursed themselves 21 years ago in Tiger Stadium with the cigar curse and haven’t won in BR since.

Go read the quote, and then take your lazy arse back to my post and read the list of shite I just posted.

We have skull fricked Auburn in ways never seen in this state before.

quote:

The second thing was, work every day to dominate your opponent. You know, we have an opponent in this state that we work every day, 365 days a year, to dominate. That's our goal. That's what you get up every day to do, to dominate the people that you have to compete against and play against.

There's the quote. I'd say mission accomplished.

Great. Thank you for admitting it.

If that makes you feel better.

I, as an unbiased observer, think its ridiculous to claim you dominated someone when you've beaten them 62% of the time but everyone has their own opinions.
