A&M was preseason top 10 last year. I couldn’t find y’all in the final rankings. Must have been a typo.

That’s a very wise, well- adjusted, mature way to view things. I think the vast majority of successful people from any school take that approach. Compare that to the melty Strawman Aggie guy above. That’s batshit crazy anger/denial/ projection stuff.

LSU, poster child for the saying...”all hat, no cattle.”

What does any of that have to do with sports?

Seriously. . .Explain yourselves. How do you all put up with this?

Not my (or any of our) decision how the administrators spend university money. I’m not a donor. I’d rather put money back into my own family than some university, which accounted for a whopping 12% of my life. Whatever they spend their money on is their business.

So to your question “how do I put up with this?” Exactly what is one supposed to do besides “put up with it?” You seem like the type of fella that stresses heavily over things he cannot change. Just let it go pal. Enjoy your team when they’re doing well, move on with life when they’re not.

Man I get and respect being a passionate fan. Especially when you’re actually a student and taking part in the pageantry. But as a grown arse man with a family and career, why would anyone get so worked up over another teams lack of success.

Feeling great!

Great to be an former student of a university that has a rich history of service to our country. A&M does not define itself by how well our football team or baseball team performs. Our Former Student Association is the top alumni association in the world and is the example every other university tries to become.

Winning a another natty in football will happen sooner than later. We are on the right track and getting closer and closer to that goal every day.

Let me ask you a question. How does it feel to be a tshirt fan of a school who has had to dismiss it's last to coaches for moral and ethical reasons? Covering up rape? Really? Winning at all costs?

How do you honestly feel about this...

With that kind of money A$M should not charge tuition. It is shameful that they do. Same with UT. Disgraceful.

I’ll answer, since you introduced morality. We fired our scumbag. You still have yours. And now that you’ve layered your program with dolla dolla bills y’all, how do YOU think this is going to play out? Understanding the culture and knowing human behavior I’ll predict it for you, if you want.

Great point actually, I used to give a little to the Association of Former Studends (havent the last few years though), but I've never spent money at the 12th man foundation. Guess I might be more mad about it if I had given a bunch of money, but the reality is I spend my extra money other places so its not really for me to have a say in what the athletic department is doing.

Like you I just like being a fan and seeing us win games, thats about it. Funny how worked up people get over stuff and even funnier how much people on this site are obsessed with teams from schools they didnt go to.

We've underachieved given our resources. Nothing I can do from where I sit. I hate losing in whatever I do but realize when events, such as college sports, are beyond my control thus I don't fret too much about it.

They have a boatload of scholarship money and make it so that anyone in real financial need ends up basically getting free tuition. If you make decent money though it's tough to get any scholarships for your kids, they have to have some serious academic credentials. They have mainly spent it on expansion and quality. Dropped over $250 million on the main Engineering Building a few years ago alone, that thing is insane. Zachry Engineering Building

None of that stuff matters though for football or athletics though and academic smack is the worst counter to athletics discussion. The reality is though on the football/athletics side everything has shifted in the last 10 years post SEC move. The biggest boon was rebuilding Kyle Field. When they did it they bought out all the "grandfathered" seating and started over with new 10 and 15 year leases with a ridiculous amount of premium areas. It made Kyle into a giant cash machine. Second factor is the SEC money. The biggest factor though is that A&M primarily experienced exponential growth in the '80s onward size wise and now you have those donors from the '70s, '80's and '90s hitting prime donor age.

All that resulted in A&M going from a Top 10-20ish type school money wise to Top 3. Depending on what numbers you look at A&M may be spending more than anyone now. So all the talk of how "A&M hasn't won anything since..." is fair but lacks perspective. A&M has never had this level of resources and we are getting richer and stronger every year as we will soon be cranking out 15k Grads per year while maintaining a very high average salaries. A&M has always had a very high percentage of grads that donate but now you have more of them and they are making a lot of money. That's the engine that fuels the donations. If you look long term there is really no school that will be able to compete with A&M financially, even Texas which is now a good bit smaller and has a lower average salary per grad. In 10-20 years that's going to really become pronounced.

More importantly though money doesn't guarantee wins either as we are reminded of daily here at tRant. It only puts you in a better position to win because you can buy nice things. The issue of course is that isn't unique in the SEC where you have so many schools deeply committed to winning in football. All we have bought is a seat at the table with the hope of more.

Your point was about why we charge tuition and I addressed that. A&M is funding scholarships with the intention of making it so that a higher and higher proportion of students can either pay no tuition or very little by means testing. Personally I would rather they just reduce tuition for everyone. Kind of unrealistic to have a school with 70k students with no tuition though. A&M consistently ranks with the elite in ROI though and value.

A&M also does a lot with Blinn and other methods to allow people to take classes outside of A&M to reduce costs. They are pretty creative in making it as affordable as possible.

As stated as well we spend money on being able to expand while maintaining quality of education. They are working hard to keep class sizes down but it's just really hard with so many students. Essentially the method is to make the school where every College basically operates independently so the size is more manageable. They have the space and money to do it. I did a tour with my son last year and the biggest takeaway for me was we walked the campus for almost 2 hours and maybe hit 1/3rd of it, it's just massive.

As I said though this has jack shite to do with football.
