Why can’t the 5 away games still happen? Just consider them non conference games.

They could but I’m not sure the SEC will want LSU anywhere near conference members who could potentially lose a game, hurting their playoff chances.

At worse the SEC would just have the same contract minus the LSU portion. Similar to when adding Oklahoma and Texas.
But if the contract has to be redone completely, it will be an increase in pay for all teams.

You have no idea how asset evaluation works when it comes to contract renewals.

Cool - Texas is a MUCH bigger market than Louisiana State and the contract was signed prior to Texas and Oklahoma joining. We'll get even more money!

We are under the 2020 media contract. Texas and Oklahoma, both bringing more viewers than LSU were added after that deal was signed.
Disney would have no want to renegotiate that deal and pay for what they’ve received for free to this point, the viewership of Texas and Oklahoma fan bases.
The loss of LSU doesn’t negate the two wins and higher viewership from Texas and Oklahoma.

The SEC Network went forward based upon A&M joining the league. That was clearly stated by Slive.

If Kiffin had a more impressive resume as a head coach he would be able to stand up to the pressure of ABC/ESPN, The SEC and the rest of college football. He doesn't and he won't. At some point he is going to be told by LSU to accept a slap on the wrist and move the frick on. It is doubtful he will refuse and almost a certainty he won't be able to simply move on and not act like he has for the entirety of his career. The leash will get shorter and shorter...unless of course he wins the conference a couple of times and throws in a natty or 2 then he will have some leverage....he has none as it is, hell Brian Kelly has a better resume as a head football coach.....
