Another deal Stankey screwed up. FFS UT and OU didn't add any money to the contract due to pro-rata.
Doesn't the pro-rata mean they pay the same amount for the teams as what the rest of the SEC was getting?
AKA everyone still gets the same, but overall the SEC has gotten more due to things like playoff payouts etc?
Posted on 9/8/26 at 11:39 pm to Boom33
Yes. We all got the same amount when y'all joined. The next contract will be more obviously.

You think that Sankey can get a better deal without LSU. Please tell us you are just kidding no human can be that fricking stupid.
Every time a conference renegotiates, how much the other conferences gets becomes the baseline. It goes up every time.
So yes, by default it will pretty much be a better deal.
Furthermore, the loss of LSU(or any other team) is not as big a hit as you think. The SEC will still fill just as many quality TV games and have just as many viewers. It'll be other teams instead of LSU is all. And even if you just went off the raw viewership numbers and used a lower viewer ship team, the difference is about 20%.
It's not the empty vacuum you think it is.

LSU has five away games this season. That’s five SEC schools that lose not only ticket revenue but everything associated with the game day experience.
Your math is not as solid as you think. For any SEC team that sells out all of their games, they won't lose a cent if LSU is not there.
For example, A&M just had 107k for Missouri St. We could replace LSU with Missouri St every other year and make the same money. Hell, probably more as we would have a lot less vomit to clean up than when LSU is in town.
LSU makes money for schools who do not sell out all of their games. That part is true, but how many schools are we talking about really?
As for TV money, if we negotiate a new contract now with LSU leaving or one when this deal expires, either way it is going up - with or without LSU.
You would probably help schools in your new conference sell tickets because most other leagues don't sell out every game - hey to Big XII and ACC. But the LSU tv appeal won't be the same with no Bama, A&M, Texas, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee as the opponent.
Hopefully sanity comes soon and this is all past us in the next day or so. But man, you LSU fans are thin skinned The abuse you have taken here the last day or so is a fraction of what Aggy takes on here day in and day out.
In the wise words from Sgt Hulka - Lighten up Francis!
I want Sankey out probably more than you guys, but the truth is you got pants'd, and the only reason that happened was because of Kiffin. A good AD would have kept him out of it and this all would have been handled quietly behind closed doors like pretty much everything else is. Kiffin leaning into it, right down to the Dr Pepper commercials just throws gas on the situation.

They should hire you Sankey Jr Boom Butthurt
Then they could get the TV people to walk out and offer nothing just like you do here.

I said it in another thread. LSU would have an agreement to become a member of the B1G before basketball season started if they were available.
Anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.

Cool, that means the SEC can get a better contract

The SEC is run by a group of 16 Academics, not Disney and not ESPN.
They have an extremely valuable franchise and are tired of it's good name being dragged through the mud.
They will protect the institutions and if ESPN and Disney don't like it the SEC will negotiate a better one elsewhere.
LSU is about to be disciplined and if they don't stop all the bs they will be kicked out. TV money wise there are better options.

Are your ticket prices the same for both?

Yes.
[AI]
Official face value single-game ticket prices through the 12th Man Foundation depend strictly on your seating tier rather than changing per opponent, but secondary market and resale prices create massive cost differences based on the game.
Face Value vs. Resale DynamicsBase Face Value:
When bought directly from the school or the 12th Man Foundation Evenue Portal, a specific physical seat has a fixed face value price (and a corresponding required seat contribution tied to season ticket contracts) for every regular-season home game.
The Resale Market Difference:
On secondary ticket marketplaces like StubHub or SeatGeek, the exact same seat fluctuates wildly depending on the opponent's draw, national ranking, and rivalry status.
Works out for about $10M per game on ticket sales alone without concessions and parking. The athletic dept does not get the parking revenue anyway, that goes to the university directly. Since all season tickets sell out leaving only those reserves required by the conference for the opponents fans and their band there is really no need to have a separate price per game as there really is no walk up or game week ticket sales per se. There are some. Sometimes the student pool is not all taken. I do not know what the student reserve is, but the Missouri State game set a record with 41,000 student tickets pulled. So between any student pull and visiting leftovers might be sold during the week of the game, but that number is going to be very small if any these days.
Truth is adding a 9th conference game actually costs A&M about $8M-$10M per year in revenue loss due to the extra road game every other year once you take into account tickets, concessions and parking.

As for TV contracts, it's not whether an SEC contract sans LSU would increase. It would (unless Sankey hits it in the hazard again). It's relative to how much more might it increase with LSU in the picture.
It's hard to believe that TV viewership for say an Aggie-Tar Heel matchup would equal/surpass that of an LSU-Aggie game.

Right, but it doesn't have to be equal. It'll just be off slightly.
Also, I think it'll probably be FSU that would be added rather than UNC. FSU is the most watched team outside the SEC/Big10.
FSU is 4.1 million, about 33% less than LSU. But that would also increase if they joined the SEC by default because they will be playing SEC opponents. They'd bring in closer to 6 million on average I'd bet.
Personally, I'd rather replace LSU with nobody. But that's obviously not realistic.
And really, I don't think LSU is going to be kicked out anyway, this is hypothetical.

What bs should they need to stop? Testing the boundaries of a poorly implemented rule along with other schools? When the SEC retroactively made a ruling did they follow it? The logic just isn't there.....

LSU brings them money. More money than anyone else the SEC could add. It’s not a coincidence the expulsion talk when from 100 to 0 real quick.
Wrong. Florida State. Georgia Tech. Clemson. All would work.
Inflation has gone up dramatically since the last contract deal. Just by having a reason to negotiate would give us all more money.
You created the reason for us all to make bank off of you.
So you bet. They see this a a pay day. Everyone will vote for more money especially given your current behavior.

ESPN throws away billions in advertisements on the games of the other 15 schools as some sort of valiant and selfless effort to save LSU? And then what? They turn their money and attention to the MAC and Conference USA?
