However, if the backups sucked that bad, then it shouldn't give A&M fans warm and fuzzies having the starters back.

Its not so much that they suck, it's that they're all true/redshirt freshmen.

Last year our backups actually DID suck on defense and we still won 11 games and beat Bama because we got lucky with injuries.

That and, you know, the fact that five of our starting front seven missed either one or both games due to suspension/injury. Saturday will be the first game with our entire starting front seven in tact.

Honestly, I knew A&M was missing guys in the Rice game but I thought everyone was back for SHSt?

The only starters we got back for SHSU were Raven and Ennis. (Raven is now out with a broken collarbone)

Everett was suspended the 1st half due to the targeting foul against Rice.

Harris was suspended for both games

Stansbury was suspended for both games

Jenkins was suspended for both games

Geno Smith was suspended vs. VT, he'll be back. Still, our 2nd team would've shut down Rice & SHSU.

Our 2nd string offense would have scored a hell of a lot more than 14 against a middle of the road ACC team. GFY

CGSC, you forgot Obioha (for others, he's the better of our 2 defensive ends). He sat out SHSU with an injury. He should be back this week, though it's not a guarantee (it'd be a huge loss for us if he can't play. He's damn good).

So this week, both of our starting DEs and a starting LB will be added to the front 7.

The A&M kicking game is also tremendously better than last year.

Your placekicker is horrendous. That's "better"?

Between the returning starters and the what I hope and pray was a vanilla scheme for the first two games, it is damn near impossible to tell exactly how good or bad A&M's defense is. My guess would be that they will be good enough to hold Bama under 30.

You barely accomplished that last year with a more experienced defense. If the line holds up enough, and AJ is on his game, then it'll be tough for the Aggies.

He hasn't botched an extra point yet this year. So far, he's "better."

I also don't expect this game to be high scoring.

About 60 total points. (Bama will score 40 of them)

A&M run defense

See ND run defense vs. Alabama for comparison.
