Since, the SEC is about to divvy up what looks to be record payouts to everyone once again, I was wanting to have a discussion about what the fans of the new schools thought about how things have been since joining. It's obviously been a huge success from a marketing and competition stand point in my opinion. Please, keep the flames out of here.

the newness hasn't worn off. It's fricking fun.

The ONLY thing I have a gripe is that we still haven't played everyone from the East.

And that's not likely to change unless they go to a nine game schedule.

I love it so far. The Big 12 seems like a faint, distant memory in all honesty. I've already fully acclimated to the SEC. I'm sure that's not a mutual feeling with a lot of the traditional SEC folk, and they probably still say we don't fit and don't feel right, but I think time will help it settle in for them. The only drawback to this point is that the Big 12 basketball tournament was a lot better than the SEC basketball tournament, but hopefully with the new coaches in the SEC the level of competition will rise and SEC basketball will become more exciting, Mizzou included. We haven't really held up our part of that bargain

Money good. Football good. Basketball bad(but could get better with recent coaching hires)

It's awesome. Not much else to say. The football in the SEC is just night and day compared to the Big 12 in terms of the interest level from all the schools. It's fun as hell.

Obviously the money is great and the stability. Also, just knowing we are no longer in that clusterfrick of a league known as the Big 12.

SEC basketball kind of sucks, but I don't really care.

I heard yesterday that the payout may be as much as 30mil. That's a pretty sweet pay day for everyone.

The SEC is a lot more fun. That's what I'm after. Fun tailgates. Fun venues. Fun wins.

A buddy of mine who works at Oliver Equipment and is an A&M grad told this exact same thing.

I seriously cannot think of one thing that the Big 12 has over the SEC. Competition. Venues. Fans. Money. You name it.

No rivalry will mean as much as the tu one, and I'm not surrounded by as many SEC people, but that's about it. And even though we don't play the sips the rivalry is stronger than it's ever been.

The modern era has been fun. Finished #5 ranked in the nation the first year, got a Heisman, and got our share of arse kickings too. Overall it's been a lot of fun. Glad we can contribute to the money game as well but that's really not a huge deal to us.

Yeah, if I lived on the west side of the state, I might miss the kU rivalry more. Would I like to play them? Sure. Do I lose any sleep that we don't? Not at all. I do find it funny how butt hurt kU is over us leaving though.

Realistically, the SEC is the only conference in which Mizzou could ever hope to reach national status.

In the B1G we would have likely remained as we were in the XII - a decent mid-tier program facing the same recruiting difficulties Nebraska is now facing. In the SEC, Mizzou can sell the conference as well as the program to elite southern athletes. We may still end up as a mid-tier program here too, but it will be in the premier conference - a huge upgrade.

It may take a full generation before Missouri playing SEC schools feels natural, but in almost every way the move has been a home run.

It was the best move we could have made as far as stability.

The main problem I have is KC is still a very strong Big 12 town as far as the media goes. IMO and of course I am biased, I don't feel we get the recognition here in KC that we would if we were still in the Big 12.

The pros are:
Stability
Money
better travel destenations
better football culture and histrory overall
better competetion

The cons:
Less schools within 2-4 hour drive
Less SEC fans in the area to argue with
Less local media coverage
More competition in every aspect of football

Overall I am happy with the move. Staying in a Big 12 without Texas would have also been fine but that wasn't going to happen. I am glad we didn't end up in the Big 10. I would have personally hated that.
