Please feel free to add any incidents I may have missed, and I will add to the OP.

Thank you.

1988 - Alabama fan throws brick through Bill Curry's window after loss to Ole Miss

quote:

Even a football program as successful as Alabama's has had its share of shocking and embarrassing losses over the decades.

One of those for the Crimson Tide came 30 years ago this fall, when lightly regarded Ole Miss stunned Alabama on homecoming at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Rebels beat Bill Curry's Crimson Tide 22-12, rallying from a 12-0 third-quarter deficit and scoring two touchdowns in the game's final 46 seconds.

It was a loss that achieved instant infamy in the ensuing hours, when someone -- most likely a disgruntled fan -- threw a brick through Curry's office window at the Alabama football complex.

1990 - Alabama fans attempt to rush field, fight with police, are arrested

quote:

So a 16-7 Crimson Tide win lit a powder keg in the Alabama student section, and eventually, the Legion Field artificial turf. News accounts differed on numbers and video of the postgame wasn’t clear but Alabama students tried to rush the field as the game ended and Birmingham police officers were there to greet them.

“I saw several of them swinging billy clubs,” Alabama student Harold Lambert, then 24, told The Birmingham News. “One cop was swinging back and forth as hard as he could at anybody he could. They were swinging wildly. One of the officers pulled his gun out. He pulled it out and was waving it. They were out of control.”

Approximately 20 people were arrested on the field but a few got away because the 50-60 police officers on-site for crowd control ran out of handcuffs.
“One of the kids with us ran and two police officers went after him and grabbed him as he climbed the fence,” student Brian Shafer told The Birmingham News. “The crowd was hitting the police officers and they were hitting back. The crowd helped him get over the fence. He ran off and got away.”

1994 - Alabama fan kills Auburn fan following Iron Bowl

quote:

An Alabama football fan has been charged with murder in the death of an Auburn fan. Authorities believe the shooting erupted during a fight over the game between the bitter rivals.

Richard Nicholas, who supported Auburn, was killed by a shotgun blast a few hours after No. 3 Alabama's 21-14 victory Saturday over previously undefeated and now ninth-ranked Tigers, authorities said. Michael Smith, a loyal Crimson Tide fan who is now married to Nicholas' ex-wife, was charged with murder.Authorities said Nicholas was killed by a blast from a 12-gauge shotgun Saturday outside Smith's Mobile home in rural west Alabama.

2003 - Alabama fan attempts to kill son after loss to Arkansas

quote:

A Pinson man was charged with attempted murder for holding a gun to his son's head and pulling the trigger in the midst of a tantrum after Alabama's double overtime loss to Arkansas Saturday. The bullet narrowly missed 20-year-old Seth Logan, who said he picked the wrong time to ask his dad for a car, sheriff's spokesman Deputy Randy Christian said Monday.

Joseph Alan Logan, 46, surrendered to police Saturday and was charged with attempted murder and domestic violence. He was released from the Jefferson County jail Sunday on $7,500 bond.

According to the police report, Joseph Logan had been drinking alcohol and began slamming doors, tossing boxes and throwing dishes in the sink after the Crimson Tide lost its football game to Arkansas 34-31 in double overtime Saturday.
While Joseph Logan was throwing the tantrum, Seth Logan asked
for a new car.

2005 - Alabama fan stabs three Auburn fans prior to Iron Bowl

quote:

On Nov. 18, 2005, the night before the annual Iron Bowl between Auburn and Alabama, Joey Barrett, Jr., a lifelong Alabama fan and now 25, went to a fraternity party at Auburn and yelled “Roll Tide!” A brawl then broke out, with Barrett stabbing three Auburn students.

One student was hospitalized with a collapsed lung. Two others were also hospitalized while two didn't require medical attention.

Barrett then found a witness, who just happened to be clinically declared as mentally retarded, and offered him a car to admit to being the person who stabbed the brother.

In 2005 he pleaded guilty and served 18 months in jail.

2008 - Alabama fan kills two people after Alabama-LSU game

quote:

Dennis Smith, 41, and Donna Kaye Hall Smith, 39, were shot to death about 7 p.m. Saturday in the rural community of Owassa in southern Alabama, the Conecuh County sheriff's office said. The two divorced about five years ago but had recently gotten back together and were planning to remarry, Odom said.

Michael W. Williams, 28, was charged with two counts of murder in the shooting at his home, where he and others had watched the game. He was being held without bond.

People at Williams' home said the dispute was over the game, which Alabama won 27-21 in overtime, an investigator said. Witnesses said Williams was an Alabama fan and Dennis Smith rooted for LSU, but Odom disputed that, describing Smith as an "adamant Tide fan."

2010 - Alabama fan sentenced in death of South Carolina fan

quote:

Curtis Simms, the Alabama football fan sentenced last week to a 10-year prison term suspended to five years in the 2010 death of a USC fan, will appeal his sentence.
A Richland County jury on Feb. 5 convicted Simms, 27, of breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, which carries a maximum 10-year sentence.

Simms and the victim, Martin Gasque, 20, who didn’t know each other, had a 30-second chance encounter in traffic outside Williams-Brice Stadium after a USC-Alabama football game. Trial testimony indicated Simms punched Gasque, who then fell under a friend’s pickup truck. The pickup then moved forward, crushing Gasque to death.

2010 - Alabama fan poisons Auburn landmark trees

quote:

The Alabama fan who poisoned the iconic Toomer's Corner oak trees at rival Auburn has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Harvey Updyke Jr. pleaded guilty on Friday to criminal damage of an agricultural facility. The sentence requires him to serve at least six months in jail and spend five years on supervised probation for the Class C felony. He has been credited with 104 days already served.

quote:

Harvey Updyke Jr., the Alabama fan accused of poisoning the oak trees at Auburn’s Toomer’s Corner, said on a Birmingham radio show that he was going to get what he deserves and that he just had “too much ’Bama in me.”

2012 - Alabama fan charged with sexual battery of inebriated LSU fan

quote:

The Alabama fan who admitted to placing his privates on a passed-out LSU fan last January learned his sentence this morning. He will get two years in prison.

He’s known to most people as the ‘Bama Teabagger, but his name is Brian Downing and he’s 33 years old.

It was video shot on a cell phone camera that got him into trouble after Alabama beat LSU in the BCS Championship game in the Superdome last January. Downing was videoed in the dining area of Krystal Burger on Bourbon Street exposing his private parts and pressing them against the neck of a passed-out Tigers fan.

2013 - Alabama fan charged with 'Kick Six Killing'

quote:

A woman charged with killing a fellow Alabama fan after the end of last weekend's Iron Bowl football game was angry that the victim and others didn't seem upset over the Crimson Tide's loss to archrival Auburn, said the sister of the slain woman.Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, was charged Monday with murder in the killing of 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd.

Hoover police Capt. Jim Coker said both Birmingham women were Alabama fans and at the same party for the annual game between intrastate rivals. With no time left on the clock, Auburn returned a missed Crimson Tide field goal more than 100 yards for a 34-28 victory, dashing any hopes of Alabama playing for a third straight national championship.

2014 - Alabama fan attacks Oklahoma fan at Sugar Bowl

quote:

A female American football fan took the tackling into the stands on Thursday night when she attacked a male fan at the Sugar Bowl between Alabama and Oklahoma.

Michelle Pritchett, who supports Alabama, was caught on camera diving over other members of the crowd to get to Oklahoma fan Michael Connolly.

The victim of the attack later tweeted that Pritchett is a mother of three and that her children were in attendance at the Superdome in New Orleans.

The trouble started at the beginning of the third quarter with a war of words but quickly escalated into a brawl as Pritchett, who had been drinking, took exception to a comment from the Sooners supporter.

2017 - Alabama fan arrested for shooting Auburn fan prior to Iron Bowl

quote:

Mobile Police have arrested 28-year-old Rodney Alexander in connection with a shooting that happened Monday outside of a Mobile hotel, according to WKRG. The incident was allegedly sparked over an Iron Bowl argument. Police say Alexander, a Crimson Tide fan, was arguing with another man, an Auburn Tigers fan, outside of an Extenda Suites motel over which team was better.

The argument escalated when Alexander allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the Auburn fan in the thigh before fleeing the scene on foot. His whereabouts were unknown until Thursday, when he was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

2019 - Alabama fan kills LSU fan following 46-41 LSU victory

quote:

James Michael Ronald “Mikie” Merritt was shot in a dispute on the night of Nov. 9 after the Alabama-LSU football game. He died this past Friday after being hospitalized on life-support.

David Allen Fulkerson, 31, is held in the Colbert County jail with bail set at $100,000 on a murder charge.

Merritt and Fulkerson had gathered that day with their girlfriends for drinks, a cookout and the football game. The two men were cheering for different teams — Fulkerson apparently supported Alabama, while Merritt cheered for LSU.

2019 - Alabama fan threatens to bomb Tiger Stadium

quote:

A former University of Alabama student has apologized for phoning in a bomb threat to a packed Tiger Stadium during the 2019 LSU-Florida football game, calling his actions "unbelievably stupid."

"Looking back, it is unbelievable that I made such a big mistake and I am thankful that no one was hurt because of my actions," Connor Croll wrote in a letter addressed to the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish and "anyone affected by my actions on October 12th, 2019."

2021 - Man fatally shot after Texas A&M upsets Alabama

quote:

A man was fatally shot after an argument over the University of Alabama-Texas A&M University football game, Alabama police said Monday.

The man, Kealand Amad Pickens, 27, was shot at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday outside a home where people were gathered to watch the game, Bessemer Police Lt. Christian Clemons said.

"They were arguing over which team was better. It was an argument about the game," Clemons said Monday afternoon.

Pickens died Sunday shortly before 3:30 a.m., Clemons said.

2022 - Alabama fan arrested for shooting at neighbor's home following loss to Tennessee

quote:

A man from Florence, Alabama was arrested Saturday night for allegedly shooting his neighbor’s house with a shotgun.

According to WAFF News, the fan was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail by the Florence Police Department after he allegedly got into a verbal argument with a neighbor about the game.

Following the argument, the Tide fan allegedly went home, grabbed his shotgun, and opened fire on his neighbor’s home.

2023 - University of Alabama 'disgusted' by behavior of its fans

quote:

Shortly after Texas' 34-24 win over Alabama on Saturday, video surfaced of Crimson Tide fans directing racist and homophobic language towards Texas players on the Longhorns sideline. On Tuesday, The University of Alabama responded to the incident in a statement provided to USA Today.

"We are disgusted by reports of vile language and inappropriate behavior Saturday night," the statement reads. "To be clear, we condemn this behavior and it will not be tolerated in our venues. It is not representative of UA or our values. We expect all attendees to act with class and respect toward others. Fans are strongly encouraged to report issues to our security on-site. Gameday and delayed reports are appropriately addressed and anyone found to be in violation of our rules and expectations will be promptly removed and may be banned from future events."

And it looks like Kelly's running back, Trey Holly, who was arrested on a charge of attempted second-degree murder after a shooting in Union Parish is trying to carry the tradition. Actually, BR isn't that bad, once you get past the snippers down Mainstreet.

Don't sweat it, Amos Moses, you'll never find all the bodies back to Huey Long in those swamps.
