He’s making pretty close to 9 a year now, so that’s not a big increase, on a per year basis they can easily meet or beat.

He’s making 7.5 not 9

He's been posting bullshite about Kiffin's contract for awhile. Said it was a $20MM buyout for another West team to poach him.

Lordy, that shows what kind of program Ole Miss is right there. A bonus for going to the Bham Bowl.

Auburn has played in the Birmingham Bowl twice since Ole Miss has.

With incentives and two more wins on the season he’ll be at 8.

That’s not enough. We can do additional years through UMAA and we will definitely meet 11/per. Barbers are gonna have to go full A&M, imo. Can’t blame them for wanting him, but they will have to break the bank to win this one.

The 4-year contract limit has saved Ole Miss from giving long expensive contracts to a lot of bad coaches.

Kiffin is literally sucking cock to get the LSU job still. According to the rant

If Kelly was ruled ineligible and we wanted Kiffin, we’d take Kiffin. And you know it.

He’s got a good thing going in Oxford and Auburn’s administration/booster situation is a mess.

The fear is palpable! Good thing going in Oxford. I guess if you don't ever expect to compete in a championship outside of the Egg Bowl, then I guess your right.

You going to up your your NIL fund by 5x too?

Contract is half the picture. Can he win big? Is he going to have to fight, and fail, to keep talent out of the portal? Is he going to have to constantly be identifying undervalued players in the portal to bring in? Is he going effectively to live in a hellscape of stress and roster management?

The portal and NIL make this a losing battle for all but about 10 teams. HC is now, oddly, less stressful for the HC of a blue blood. They have the NIL funds to keep their top talent, or poach elite talent from the vast majority of CFB. They don’t have to deal with the stress of roster turnover, they don’t have to recruit, they don’t have to do shite but coach and let the money work.

If Auburn wants him, they get him. He would literally be an idiot to do otherwise. That isn’t just true for OM, it’s a sad reality for everyone who doesn’t have that dumptruck.

You do not know what we have in NIL. They want him. And we will know in about ten days how that works out.

I know what you don’t have, and that’s really all that is relevant.

You don’t know anything. You hope. And that’s fine. Just don’t tell me Auburn didn’t try to get Kiffin and lose when Freeze is named their head coach in the coming weeks.

The fun thing is we don’t and will never know. That’s how this works, nobody is ever offered until they accept. We don’t know that they have spoken with him or his agent at all.

We do know that Cohen has said he would never hire Kiffin. We also know things change. I personally know Dan McDonnell was never even approached about the State baseball job, despite heavy speculation, and we now know the target was actually his former assistant. We also know Kiffin’s agent is exceptionally good at working the narrative to keep his clients getting paid the most they possibly can.

If I was Cohen I would hire him, but he is by no means the first person I would target. We will see in a few weeks who Auburn hires, but frankly that’s all we will learn.

ETA: I also don’t think we know how this era is going to impact the price coaches demand. Theoretically, we should see salaries go down as more is allocated to NIL. Every player and coach on the team has a value to the program, and eventually departments will objectively evaluate what that is. We will see how that plays out and how quickly AD’s catch on.

I am beginning to sense another Pine box 2.0. And you are beginning to fear another Pine box 2.0.

As opposed to the bonuses that Auburn gives out just for going away?
