Could be Lane's agent trying to get more for him... But that is coming from Ole Miss boards.

I'm sure Ole Miss will match and then Kiffin will have a decision to make

Ole Miss can't match the years. They'd need to pay him 15 million/year to match the guarantees with the 5 year cap on state employee contracts pursuant to the MS State constitution

Not that I buy any of the internet rumors of who's hiring who. Thought people had learned not to do that by now.

These were the odds of who LSU would hire

James Franklin +400
Lane Kiffin +500
Mel Tucker +500
Jimbo Fisher +700
Billy Napier +800
Dave Aranda +900
Luke Fickell +1000

Most of the time, the guy everyone says has agreed to take a job isn't the person who actually is hired for the job.

Can't match 7 years due to it being illegal in MS to offer over 4 year contracts. We'll see. If he leaves, he leaves and we'll find another.

Offer 50 mil for 4, then start selling the family jewelry

ETA: I wonder how much we could get for a 2003 Western Division Championship trophy…

He’s making pretty close to 9 a year now, so that’s not a big increase, on a per year basis they can easily meet or beat.

If the contract is fully guaranteed, which the barn would be absolutely nuts to do is there though, perhaps he can go in with Jimbo and buy a small island somewhere.

If the money is anywhere close then he should stay at Ole Miss. He’s got a good thing going in Oxford and Auburn’s administration/booster situation is a mess.

7.25 with a $100k increase each year through 2025. However, I'd assume he'll get offered 9 (or more) after the season by Ole Miss

$7.25 million is his base but he has a lot of incentives built into his contract. He’s pushing $10 million right now

Heard a podcast this morning where they discussed the law in Mississippi pertaining to this. They said there are plenty of ways around that 4 year contract rule.

I'm not sure how much that plays into anything if that's the case.

It’s Auburn. A couple of boosters could be going rogue and floating an offer without university approval. Agents don’t care at this point. They can go back to Oxford with a figure to get Lane a raise.

If Auburn officially starts negotiations, then the offer from the the rogue boosters is the starting point.

if there were, Ole Miss would have already exploited the loophole by now
