Just going off a quick glance, but has anyone discussed the idea of:

3
1(permanent)
3(rotating)

4 pod winner semi final? Obviously there would be shitty teams with a chance at a championship sometimes by virtue of being the best in a shite pod, and also takes away from home games... I'm kind of talking myself out of this idea.

Ideally you'd get UNC and Virginia Tech, but that'd never happen.

IMO getting UNC would damn near impossible, but I don't think it'd be hard to get VT and NC State. Sell NC State on becoming the premier football team in North Carolina, and Virginia Tech is in the area of Virginia that culturally still fits in way better with the SEC than the ACC.

VT and UVA are a package deal via the legislative. Getting VT to the ACC from the Big East was all the state government. A lot has changed but I doubt that has.

Also, while VT fits and would have great regional rivalries with UK and TN, their campus profile is a LOT of kids from Northern Virginia. They are growing more and more DMV based and much less Appalachian based, though they will always have fans and folks in Western Virginia (much much more so than UVA).

Teams having different #s of permanent rivals would really screw up scheduling.

That isn't bad geographical grouping.

Yeah I'm sure you'd love being in a pod with 3 basketball schools.

You'd play Georgia, South Carolina, NC State, and LSU every year. You'd lose Florida/Tennessee but they'd still play every 3 years.

Actually I think they would play every twice every 3 years.

They obviously play when their pods are grouped, but consider this year in the rotation:

Division A:
A&M
LSU
Pigs
Mizzou
Florida
UGA
SCAR
NCST

Division B:
Bama
Ole Miss
MSU
Auburn
UT
Vandy
UK
UNC

Permanent cross pod rivals UT and Bama and Florida and LSU are already in the same division. Therefore, UT can play Florida every time this happens, Bama can play LSU.

I think it should be LSU/Ole Miss, Kentucky/Florida, A&M/Miss State, Arkansas/Vandy, Missouri/South Carolina

You're right in that case, LSU/Bama and Florida/Tennessee would play 2 out of every 3 years. It doesn't match up as nicely for other years, with "year 1" on my rotation being the messiest.

Keep in mind these are my pods and my permanent rivalries but here's an idea what the rotation would look like.
