I laugh that we are still getting these comments on Will Wade... Let's be honest here; last year LSU was picked like 7th in the conference and we won. This year we were picked 4th and we are up by 2 games. How do you say Will Wade is all recruiting if we outperform expectations that were made after recruiting finished?

I'll catch hell from our fanbase, but Mullen has to be in consideration for this at State. He brought us out of a really dark time, we weren't Arkansas bad, but we were close.

The year before our Final Four run we were 25-9 under Martin.

And got left out of the tournament bc of how shitty your OOC schedule was

We hired Brady and went from the most archaic offenses in the country to arguably the greatest offense of all time, so even though he's not a Head Coach, he's got to be up there somewhere.

You bring up a very good point.

So what SEC HCs other than Saban have won Nattys since 2000?
Orge- Seems like a great hire but next year will really tell if it was O or Brady/Burrow.
Miles- Won a Natty with Saban's players. Fired after the talent he recruited couldn't make up for his clock management.
Chizik - The best $200K Auburn ever spent. Fired without Cam and Gus.
Cal - 1 Natty since he was hired at UK in 2009. His performance is on par with Tubby Smith.

Tim Corbin - Vandy baseball has won 2 CWS and Corbin transformed Vandy for an SEC baseball basement dweller into a powerhouse.

Gotta go Corbin in all seriousness.

Pearl taking Auburn to the Final Four is like a coach taking Vanderbilt to the college football playoff. He is a miracle worker.

If we're going back 20 years, Saban is also the #2 best hire.

Saban was hired by LSU in 1999, > 20 years.

I accidentally hit downvote but you’re right. Martin couldnt capitalize on his freak run. That year, the run included, we finished 6-6

For me this is the best hire. Saban has never taken Auburn or anyone else to the Final Four.

especially considering auburn is a historically bad basketball program

In the last 20 years? It's Urban Meyer, easily.

Yep. He's got the 2nd most NCs in the SEC over the last 20 years behind Saban.

If we're talking 20 years, Steve Spurrier at South Carolina. Worked miracles and made us relavent for one brief shinning moment.

I mean... Frank Martin has accomplished this feat.

I love Frank Martin, but Pearl has had much more sustained success at Auburn than Frank Martin has had here at SC. He didn't build upon that Final Four run AT ALL.

What Tim Corbin has done for Vanderbilt baseball will never cease to amaze me.

More impressive than Saban when you consider program history, parity in the sport, and method of determining a champion.

Bruce Pearl, Tim Corbin and Kevin O'Sullivan

If Orgeron wins another natty in the next four or five years then it's him.
