Saban is obviously #1 hire across all sports. The number of SEC and National titles won at a program that was all over the place for a long while.

But who is the 2nd best hire? Not just Football. But in any sport.

Is it John Calipari?

Is it Is it Bruce Pearl? Took Auburn from the basement to the final four. Over 100 wins in 4 years at a bottom program that is not even a Nike school.

Who else would be in the discussion?

For me this is the best hire. Saban has never taken Auburn or anyone else to the Final Four.

Saban was hired more than a decade ago. As was Calipari.

Will wade and Orgeron.

Maybe Pearl and Orgeron.

I gotta go with Jimbob Fisher here.

He is easily the best hire for 13 of 14 SEC schools.

We hired Brady and went from the most archaic offenses in the country to arguably the greatest offense of all time, so even though he's not a Head Coach, he's got to be up there somewhere.

You can make a case for Pearl. He took an irrelevant AU program to almost a national title. You guys are a NCAA tourney team from here on out. Props to your AD

O is certainly proving his worth. This next season will help him cement that.

I mean... Frank Martin has accomplished this feat.

IT would be an all out tie for second best hire among all coaches who won a NC

Mark Stoops.

We were 50 levels of MAC type bad when Joker was fired. Stoops has done at UK what had only happened at UK twice in 103 seasons: a 10-win season. And that’s not even counting the insane coaching job he had last season with Bowden at QB.

But it was more so about Barnhart sticking with him, giving him the money to hang on to as many assistants as possible, etc.

Um, Saban wasn't hired in the past decade. Neither was Calipari.

Come on, man, Google or Wikipedia... something...

But Frank Martin couldn't sustain. This is a rebuilding year for Auburn and we're 19-2 and a top 15 team.

South Carolina's Final Four run was viewed as a Cinderella run and a testament to Frank Martin's coaching, but Auburn's Final Four run was more validation of what Pearl had built here and that we are an elite program

James Franklin.

Made Vanderbilt dangerous. Name me one other coach that could do that - I'm not even sure Saban could have won 9 games at that place.

He's certainly top five. Stoops is a good coach.

In no particular order, here are the hires that have stood out to me since 2010:

Orgeron- Don't need to state my reasoning here

Pearl- Once a conference basement dweller, he cast Auburn in the national spotlight

Then I'd have Stoops, Smart, and somewhere farther down the list, Vitello (Tennessee baseball)

Probably a couple others I'm leaving out.

And then you have the schools who overpaid for mediocre coaches: Fisher, Malzahn, and the sequency of Dooley and Botch Jones. Mike White has underperformed at FLA too.
