I think this is a bit lazy, considering ole miss has won one before and is typically 'pretty good" these days.

The last time they won even a conference championship Surfin’ USA by The Beach Boys was the #1 song in the country and we were six six years from landing on the moon.

I already did post it. Poor reading comprehension on your part does not constitute extra work on my part. Continue doubling down though.

at this point you have to be trolling. Good on you, I went through every one of your posts here and you said a bunch of nothing. So congrats on the troll.

Still wrong, but okay. Take the bet or get better reading comprehension.

Just to be clear, I am not gamecockultimate.

Is the issue for UF then that the head coach has just not clicked since Meyer? If so do you think Napier is the guy?

I am tasked with providing reasoning for why I believe SC can win one.

I hate to get in the middle of this pissing contest but if I were you I would point out that South Carolina couldn't be much more well positioned geographically in hot recruiting area. They are close to all the best recruiting states save maybe Louisiana, Texas and Cali.

Yeah, Florida is the best recruiting state, but USC isn't far from there either.

You could build a championship caliber team in Columbia if you did a really good job getting players out of the DMV, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Clemson's already done it with essentially that blueprint. USC could as well.

These days I guess bags are the most important thing but not very many schools are as well positioned for recruiting than South Carolina.

and thats what I was getting at. the only thing he provided was that FL is the best state for blue chips, but SC isnt unavailable to that. So if all it takes is a good coach to recruit well then SC absolutely could win a title. Our facilities arent worse than others that have won, our fanbase is solid.

I agree to most of what you are saying, but I still contend the brand effect is an advantage.

It’s just that I don’t think it’s that big of an advantage and that’s really the only structural advantage I can think of.

Is it likely? probably not.

But unlikely isn't impossible, and in a 12-team playoff anything can happen.

Ohio State and Oklahoma mostly, with some Michigan, Auburn, Alabama, etc mixed in there.

As the poster above me said, we haven’t done a great job locking the talent down, but it’s there for sure.

I guess it's all relative, but Missouri and Illinois rank in the bottom half of states producing elite talent.

Articles below are a few years old so I guess things may have changed, but not thinking it's likely.

Ironically the 12 team playoff will create an even a larger gap between the haves and have nots.

Short answer - no. Kentucky will never will a national championship in football.

But that's OK by me. And it's odd, because I was never a big fan of the old bowl system, and I'm all in on a twelve team playoff - but I will miss the deal where the big bowl game at the end was simply big and everybody played and cared.

Other than it does allow for the possibility that someone else knocks out the very best team before you have to play them.

I generally have said the same thing. That’s actually one of the reasons that I wish we would go back to the old BCS system.

That said, I think a truly objective 12 team playoff where they actually looked for the best teams to include, would heavily expand the amount of SEC teams included. But I think we can assume that the goal will be to provide “better balance” not look for the best teams.

It's just hard with our in state recruiting base. To get to the national championship level we've got to recruit at that next tier up and I just don't know how we can do that now thatbwr have NIL.

We won big despite having outdated facilities, a cheapskate AD, and our biggest rival at the time being an absolute machine. All we needed was a great coach. I don't think SCar has that luxury.
It's still way too early to decide on Napier one way or the other.

I think this sums up my confusion. You won inspite of a lot of disadvantages so what were the advantages you are referring to?

Like I’m not trying to troll here, I really do not get what these advantages are.

It may fluctuate from year to year, but BR thought we were 8th for the 2023 class:

quote:

Missouri doesn't have a 5-star prospect or too many top-200 players, but 10 blue chips give the state the No. 8 spot.

(Ironically the article earlier lists a 5 star)

For the 2024 class they rank Missouri 7th:
