My second favorite game of all time that didn't involve my team. Only behind the Boise State OU Sugar Bowl.

I pulled for Texas in that game. I’m still ashamed. My only defense is that it was before I was exposed to Texas fans.

Amazing how well the reputation of the game has held up. I think we all knew it was an instant classic after it ended, but the way people still talk about it today pretty much cements it as arguably the best CFB game of all time. Was a treat to watch.

Really was an epic game! So much talent on both sides! As an OU fan, was very difficult to decide who you wanted to win. Do you want your hated rival in UT or a USC team that was getting very close to breaking the 47 game win streak to win?

Why the f does that matter? If comparing academics for us non athletes it certainly matters but not a single ncaa football player is held to standards so why would it matter how intelligent vy is?

Have not read this thread, so maybe this has already been mentioned.
Didn't Texas get a big gift in the first half on a fumble that was not called?
Was there a Texas TD on the play?
I don't remember exactly the details, but I know that Texas got a big break on the play.

The correct call was Texas. Even if you had picked USC oh well, they didn’t win.

Vince has trouble with basic math and finances. That's why he squandered his fortune and is broke now.
A pity he didn't have someone to step in and guide him.

I was in the rose bowl and saw the plaque with the list of mvp's. Vince was mvp twice. I didn't see anyone else who had won it twice. A great athlete.

Vince was sensational and that was great.
For the older fans, the 1969 game as Texas edged Arkansas, 15-14, in a huge game between two outstanding teams was also one of their greatest.
That was actually a late regular season showdown between two top 5 ranked teams.

VY pitched it to a RB who scored on the play. Replay showed VY’s knee clearly down before the pitch. However, it would have been a first and goal anyway. And, right after that drive USC managed to kick a FG with :02 left before halftime. If the TD had not counted, Texas likely ends up scoring anyway, and there wouldn’t have been enough time for USC to get their FG. It wasn’t that consequential of a missed call.

You're right, Fiesta Bowl. Incredible game.

Was lucky enough to be in attendance at the Texas/USC rose bowl. Hard to believe it’s been 20 years. Even then, at 18, I knew I would probably never attend a game that would surpass the greatness of that night.
Believe it was a controversial PI call in the 2004 Kansas game that led to the classic Mangino rant. I don’t remember a knee down play from that game, but could be wrong. VY memorably converted a 4th and 17 with his legs late in the game to keep Texas alive.
But that’s 2004, the year Texas beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl and when asked about the title game being in Pasadena the following year, VY proclaimed “We’ll be Ba-aaack!” (something Sam Ehlinger was paying homage to with his infamous “we’re ba-aaack” line at the 2019 sugar bowl).

Was that the year Vince Youngs knee was down and should have lost to Kansas and Mark Magino screaming that's right BCS dollar signs? Also Vince Young 1-2 vs OU lol.
