Some folks acting like it’s a bad thing for states to lose population lol. You really think it’s good to be overrun with outsiders and culturally different communities? A lot of those numbers growing in the southern states are not people that y’all would consider breaking bread with.
Depends on who is moving to these growing states and what they're moving there for. In most cases it's working age and retirees of middle class and higher economic status moving to these places for job opportunities, friendlier tax environments, and improved overall quality of life. As long as most of the people are reasonable freedom loving center, center right, or classical liberals (i.e. people who value individual freedom and civil liberties) instead of hardcore anti-freedom liberals then the growth is a net plus.
There's nothing necessarily too bad about losing population if you want to ensure the local culture is maintained. However, the problem with that for example in Louisiana's case is that the residents being lost are likely upwardly mobile working age people having to leave the state for better economic opportunies...i.e the kinds of residents you don't want to leave. In Louisiana's defense, it unfortunately has some inherent environmental disadvantages that are very difficult to overcome even under absolutely ideal government leadership. Hurricanes and an eroding coastline and the inevitable insurance nightmares that result and below average state government from that make it difficult when there are nearby states without those issues.

There was a lot of people in Texas that wanted to be in the PAC 12 rather than the SEC, but thank goodness the folks in charge knew how weak the PAC 12 was.
I'm certainly guilty of that - I think a Pac __ with Texas, OU, USC, UCLA, Oregon, WA would have held its own. But that's not so much not wanting to be Southern - it was more about wanting there to be some parity in football just for the good of the game.
My "frick SEC" attitude is about how consolidation might hurt the game. Not so much not wanting to play or be part of the SEC. I did go to a Pac12 school for undergrad and vacation in Northern Cal, so that's another factor.

Yeah, but the environment is all going to look like Tempe.

Tempe is a nice area. Got family out there and a few Air Force buddies. Arizona is a boom town. So is Boise, ID believe it or not. Love the mountain west area

I like the west. Spent a few nice weekends up in Scottsdale (and love hanging out at The Boulders).
Saw Stanford rough up ASU at your stadium back when Stanford was good.
No more environmental talk for me.

I don't speak for all Missourians but the BushWhackers would like to discourage any leftists from the West coast, North East, Chicago, Denver, etc. to avoid moving to Missouri. If you're a leftist and decide you want to move to Missouri, I would strongly recommend KC, St Louis or Columbia.
The state is full of rednecks, farmers/ranchers, hunters/fishermen, tobacco chewers, whiskey drinkers, ceegar smoking baws who are not receptive of the Woke BS that comes with a lot of outsiders from liberal shite hole cities/states. When a state experiences rapid population growth it can be very disruptive to the state's historical culture and that can cause strive and conflict between those who have lived for generations in Missouri vs new arrival Wokesters.

No. The story of our children’s generation will be there are not enough people to keep the world going as we’ve come to know the past 50+ years.
The world is in for some major pain in the not too distant future and the root cause will be not enough people.

This has to be satire. There’s no one who actually believes this unless it’s some out in left field fake religious cult

I hear people saying this all the time, and I just don't believe it. Now maybe there won't be enough working folks to support the older folks, so they will start slashing all their gov benefits. I can see that, but not too few people. Just the opposite is going to be a problem, but from the looks of it young people like to flock to cities where they live like rats in a cage.

Yeah the urbanization is a bit of a troubling trend but I can see the argument. Land is expensive and if you live closer together, you aren’t paying high property taxes. At least that’s the argument in the Northeast, Midwest and West coast. But the cost of living in places like Chicago, Philly, NYC, SF is astronomical.
The scientific evidence clearly points to the world’s resources being depleted from overpopulation. And the nation’s fresh water resources lie in the north and Midwest. Ironically those areas are losing population but in probably 50 years you will see those areas get people back. The developed countries like the US and Canada and Europe can’t afford to take in all the poor people from undeveloped countries. The churches have a responsibility to educate parts of Africa and South America about contraception but they refuse to allow it. So those who don’t know any better keep having kids that they can’t take care of.

our population has boomed in the last 100 or so years. Why is it all of a sudden a bad thing if the populations dip?

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. It’s already stretched thin for resources. America needs to look out for the people who are currently here. Not take care of the whole world

I was in Oklahoma last week. Alabama doesn’t have miles of wasteland with basically zero inhabitants like you all have up there.
Gotcha but the miles of wastelands are where it's at in Oklahoma with all the wonderful lakes and the Mountains in the South and Ozarks in the North.
