The only difference for the big schools between this year and most are:
1. Clemson and Notre Dame having to play during the regular season, and potentially again in the ACC Title Game. In a normal year, they would not have the opportunity to eliminate one-another.

2. Severely shortened schedules for the Pac 12 and Big 10 (as well as the MAC and Mountain West) mean that any loss is likely an eliminator, and that most will question whether the team could have survived a full conference slate, let alone a 12 game schedule.

3. No marquee OOC games to help winnow the field. While it isn’t extremely common that two CFB contenders face off OOC, it does happen, and often stands as an elimination game (see Georgia vs Notre Dame). This is most costly, actually, to the “BCS Busters” in the Group of 5. This year, we have several undefeated G5 schools in BYU, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati, and Marshall that won’t have the opportunity to prove themselves against top shelf opponents.

So, for the ACC, SEC, and Big 12, it’s basically business as usual, and their seasons feel relatively legitimate outside of the lack of large hostile home crowds, and a champion from these conferences would feel like they faced a true test to get to the playoffs (lol, who are we kidding, no big 12 schools are making the playoffs).

Meanwhile, those Big 10, Pac 12, and G5 champs will have a lot of questions about the rigor of their schedules come playoff selection time.

the only concern is if the Covid impacts a team in the playoffs. Say a team lost 6 starters, etc.

Cool.

I'm sure the players from those two teams feel absolutely terrible when looking down at their national championship rings.

What teams would make the playoffs if the Chinese virus was not around?

Alabama?
Clemson? ?Notre Dame?
Ohio State?

Well there is 3 of the 4 that will make it

Maybe even all four. I'm not convinced ND is not one of the four best teams in the country under any circumstances.

It's an abortion of a season. Having games with almost no fans beats the purpose of SEC Football.

What a shite year overall.

Right, but when you talk about about fluke national championships, you cannot leave out the national championship teams that did not win their division or their conference.

You cannot just decide that either 2011 or 2017 bama was better than 2007 LSU, which won its division and conference.

It still wont be Georgia.
Georgia out of running for title = Georgia fan calling title bogus.
I’m shocked I tell you. You weren’t saying this before Florida whooped that arse.

Look at all the losers waving off this season. Go sit on the bench with LSU. You're pathetic.

It's not Florida, A&M, or Bama.

One or more of these teams will have faced more SEC opponents EVER in one season. Even with LSU turning yellow.

Sure I can.

2011 Alabama obliterated 2011 LSU.

2011 LSU would have destroyed 2007 LSU.

Winning the division is irrelevant.

If an undefeated or one loss ACC or SEC team is the national champion then the season isn’t a fraud. Big Ten and Pac 12 should be out due to not playing enough regular season games. Big XII played enough games but doesn’t have a deserving team to be in CFP. If BYU and/or Cincy win out, one should have a CFP slot.

There shouldn't be a championship this year. Before you downvote consider if Ohio State wins a 4 game regular season championship. Its a joke. The fanbases that would celebrate it are jokes. It degrades the history of college football.

Yep. Everyone knows that. It’s an asterisk season.

That’s why you’ll hear people say “You can’t judge Harbaugh on a year like this” - no one is taking it seriously.

Certain fanbases will deny it - but we all know it’s true.

If your fanbase celebrates any championship this year, you are a complete disgrace to every person alive who had family members die of the virus. And your fanbase is just pathetic.

I'm sure you would feel this way if your team was relevant to the title discussion, huh?

Nothing would infuriate an intellectually challenged group of ranters more than LSU having the best season of all time last year while their team is LITERALLY clamoring for a

“Hey! Hey! Look over here at us!”

Your ten game schedule vs that one down there is peanuts.

Best season of ALL TIME. ^^^^^^^
