UGA was close this year. 26-3 may never be broken.
We have struggled this year with injuries and probably won’t make the NCAA Tournament unless we win it all in Hoover.

Last years Champion and last years #1 overall seed not making the tournament will be wild

Here's hoping for a first round exit for you guys in Hoover and a blissful, whistle free rest of the post season.
Nothing personal.

That was a crazy year. Sweep after sweep.

Corbin an average coach
Vandy had a huge advantage with that scholarship deal but now it’s an even playing field
Corbin also advocated for those awful bats that took offense out the game

Cool story OP.
Kentucky went 38-1 in 2015 in basketball.
It's 2026. We don't care.

Due to the unfair advantage of g fully funding (buying) players.
Without this advantage Vandy is relegated to average to below average W/L record.

Did you mention that the 2013 VandyBoys didn’t even make it to the College World Series?
Great regular season though.
LSU ran through possibly the toughest schedule in College Football history in 2011, but didn’t win the Natty (although Bama shouldn’t have been in the game). No one cares about regular season wins.

A lot of truth to that post. Corbin screamed about the bats in 2009 when Cody Hahn hit a HR on the roof of Memorial Gym. This year his 9 hole hitter did it & he said nothing. Hypocrite.

Having that record obviously means they won the CWS that year right?

Only to go 26-3 in conference and not make it to the championship game…

Is your namesake still alive? I certainly hope not.

No, he finished in 2007 or 2008. Swanson and Yastrzemski were on that team and I think Tony Kemp was SEC POY.

State was close to that in 1979.
17-2 Regular Season and then won three straight in the Conference Tournament to finish 20-2 against SEC competition.
Finished fifth in the CWS. Beat Cal State Fullerton in the opening game. But lost two straight after that to finish 1-2. Fullerton then won five straight to win the CWS. Ironically they beat Arkansas 2-1 in the final game.

“Having that record obviously means they won the CWS that year right?”
So many people impugn the regular season but winning the Conference is a great achievement and deserves accolades. That is a great memory for those players and the fans.
Baseball regionals are such a crapshoot. All it takes for one of your opponents to play a great game and then the next game for you to have an off game and boom you are done.
And then if you get past the Regional the SR is a two out of three and again can be a crapshoot.
Plenty of SEC teams have had great regular seasons only to lose in a Regional or SR or the CWS. State’s 2021 championship team was probably our sixth/seventh best team overall.
1979,1984, 1985, 1989, 1992, 2013, 2016 were better regular season teams than 2021 but none won a championship.
