Ole Miss could be in for a 2023 LSU defense/2025 offense situation. Every game that passes you keep coming up with an excuse on why it gets better next game or why it can’t actually be THAT bad. Speaking from experience, ya might actually be THAT bad!

I'm not an attorney but i would imagine if they were to boot LSU, that would trigger a renegotiation between the SEC and ESPN/Disney for their media contract. Booting a brand like LSU massively devalues that media contract. Sure there are brands that are much larger than LSU in other sports, think UNC basketball, but football is still the driving force with these media contracts. There isn't a football brand big enough to replace LSU's place in the SEC that would generate the same revenue. I say all that to say, if they boot LSU, the media contract becomes worth less, which in turn means other member schools make less from the media contract.

Again, not an attorney, but that would be my thoughts. Think Texas/OU joining the SEC. Why would you vote to add programs that theoretically make your path to the playoff harder? Because they bring revenue to the conference and in turn, your school.

Thamel is reporting they are not expected to vote LSU out on Thursday. This is literally a posturing tactic so that the SEC can have leverage to govern itself for whenever they inevitably break away from the NCAA. If Kiffin even remotely comes close to being suspended, it will be one game(of LSUs choosing). So probably the Mcneese game

The case started as a TRO against the NCAA banning these players due to using up their “eligibility.” That’s why there are non SEC players there. This became an SEC issue when Sankey banned the players and laid out the penalties associated with playing them.

Every pick in the first 10 rounds has a slot value attached to it. Teams can offer more/less than that value. They typically will offer more to a high schooler/draft eligible sophomore to entice them to skip out on college. They will offer less to seniors that have no leverage. The important thing to remember is if they do draft a player and that player does not sign, they will lose that available money(slot value) and cannot reallocate it to another draft pick. So basically if a player is drafted in the first 10 rounds, they are more than likely going to sign. If they choose not to sign, unless they’re in the transfer portal already(Cameron Flukey for example) then they have to go back to their school since the portal is closed.

The MLB draft is far and above the most complicated of any of the pro drafts.
