Not the point. They are there anyway. You get 8 more teams in to try and beat them. You don't sound that optimistic it's going to happen.

The same logic applies to 10ish win teams. Only so many. I however, prefer the do-or-die games late in the season to be between 2 teams with a chance to win it all, not a pair of 2 loss teams playing for the right to get destroyed by the 1 seed.

It's important for the sport in having visibility outside of the SEC and the B1G. Having a PAC champion and Group of 5 team will help promote CFB in other regions. Will they win? Hell, no. But at least they can no longer complain about being given a shot

Denying a legitimate top 12 team a playoff spot so some two loss G5 team can get in because they have zero fan interest is not the way to go

Everyone knows that last year was bullshite. Look at half of those teams in the playoffs lol. That alone is proof that the covid year was totally crazy and not normal. Should have an asterisk by the "champion".

It was not normal. The champion beat a schedule of nothing but SEC and P5 teams. No directional school pay for the win games.

12 is too much. 6 I could get behind. There is usually a huge drop off in quality of teams after 4 to 6. Putting 12 in is just dumb.

Imagine how little interest March Madness would get with just four teams in it every year.

With players opting out of bowls this is inevitable. Bowls want the stars to show up and every NY 6 bowl will now get a playoff game

Lower bowls have become a practice session for next years teams and your first look at next years team. They will still be around in some form.

The regular season becomes more important for more teams and not just the the top elite. It will become more interesting to a lot more teams and bring more fan interest not less.

Even the elite will have that bye week and preferred playoff slot for which to play.

This is a helluva idea that will be great for everyone and make more $$$.

Dumb. One team can play 3 basketball games in 4 days. You cannot do the same with Football.

Nicole Auerbach of the Athletic is reporting the current working group scenario is the six highest ranked conference champs plus six at-large teams.

So basically Alabama, Clemson, OSU, OU, and Oregon/USC in the playoffs every single year. Somewhere between three and five SEC teams total. This wil expand the playoffs, but the same subjects will be the winners

Sixteen team play off.
5- P5 champions
5- G5 champions
6- at-large

Use the existing bowls for those 15 games.

Continue to have 10 more bowl games for the 20 best teams outside the playoff.

Then you have 36 teams playing post season football.

Limit the regular season to 10 or 11 games at most.

Boom it works and every body is happy.

Because the lord knows that the PAC12 and G5 deserve a shot based entirely on merit

My only tweak to conference play would be teams play 10 game season, then have conference championship games. 9 conference games, one OOC.

what's dumb is being so dismissive to that statement.

TN would never made a NCAA tourney ever it's my lifetime in a four team play off format.

Yes you have have more rounds in basketball but in football the bye week means allows an extra round from just 8.

What's wrong with more games with interesting matchups that give them hope?

It should make for some entertaining games.

Exactly, division 2 and 3 football do playoffs. I don't see what everyone is upset about

More games....OK

In the past if you won the Conference CG then you were at 13

Then round 1 gets you to 14 games (just 4 teams out of a hundred)

Then round 2 CG gets you to 15 games (out of hundred)

Now if you win the CG your're still at 13
Round 1 at 14 (8 teams)
Round 2 at 15 (8 teams)
Round 3 at 16 (4 teams only)
Round 4 at 17 (two teams only)

Max games played for 2 teams is 17 and if you were part of the 4 that got a bye on round 1 you will play 16 which is one game more than what the current playoff requires ( if you played in the CCG).

Amirite?
