0.0% chance you would stay ahead of a 2 loss Tennessee that beat you

But then you have to drop Georgia, who we beat… which now means you drop Tennessee, who they beat.

Which is exactly why head to head doesnt work as well as resume.

It seems worse now than with the four team playoff

Yep. Most people seemed to be in favor of the expanded playoffs. One of the reasons was that most years a team or two got excluded who may have been one of the four best teams.

This new 12 team format will just double or quadruple the number of teams who feel they were spurned.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with the 4 team system. But you know what they say, if it ain’t broke then break it.

So I found a guy who put together what the BCS would look like.. obviously it’s a little different..

link: Fake BCS

Top 5 = exact match

Teams 6-10 = right teams but order is changed.. I assume to try and come up with some sort of rationale to rank Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia and Tennessee.

Teams 11-15 = right teams, small change to the order

Just thought that was interesting..

Georgia was the big mover but they are hard to rank imo.

They appeared to go by H2H but chose to put Bama in front of Tennessee.. maybe based on the likelihood they go to the SEC CG.

it’s unfortunate losing to Bama/Ole Miss is worse than losing to Tenn/Vandy and Kentucky/LSU,

If Texas loses to A&M either UGA, or Tennessee or Ole Miss or Bama is out.

Word going around that Ohio State's center tore an achilles yesterday. The offensive line was already a MASH unit.

The playoff is a joke in its current form. The SEC needs to drop to 6 sec games so everyone can schedule 6 cakewalks.

If texas loses to A&M, Texas is out. If AM loses to Bama, AM is out and texas gets in.

The committee is making it up as they go. Wouldn't shock me if the crooked bastards try to screw A&M if they lose the SECCG to put Texas in over them despite having GA below Bama and Ole Miss now despite them having a clearly better overall resume than those 2 teams using head to head apparently but which doesn't seem to mean much when it comes to Bama losing to TN or BYU beating SMU.

I think they're just jockeying for position this week. None of the logic makes any sense otherwise. I totally agree with keeping AL,OM, and GA in that order because that's the best way to make sure all 3 get in at the end and I think that's what they want. When OH St beats Indiana they'll be totally justified in moving them below GA. If Indiana wins they can move OH St below GA and probably drop PN St also.
Why is TX the highest rated team from the SEC and SMU not the highest rated team from the ACC? Because if they put SMU in the bye spot they would have to drop Georgia out of the grid and people would raise hell, again, and for good reason.
Why did Miami drop after a bye? To make it easier to drop them out if they lose the ACC CG.
Lot's of football left and this is the most exciting November I can remember for NCAAF.

The Big 10 has pull like the SEC so Indiana will likely get in unless they are blown out by OSU.

Not sure you fully understand how this all works. As long as Texas beats Kentucky, they are in regardless of the outcome of the A&M game. If they lose to A&M, they will fall back a few spots but they will remain in at least the Top 12.

Corrects. The CFP chair alluded to this last night. Y’all may not like it, but it’s true. When they evaluate Texas they don’t care about “ranked wins”. “Texas has the 5th ranked defense and Quinn leads one of the best passing attacks in the country”. It also helps that Texas has beaten (and will) teams that Alabama, Tennessee and Ole Miss lost to.

My problem is there is ZERO consistency. They need to pick a big talking point and stick with it. Are we only looking at how many losses you have, or are we only lookin at head to head, or are we taking the totality of a resume into considertion?

-Our resume is objectively better than ole miss yet they are ahead of us. If the response is "but they beat you H2H!" then why is bama above tennessee despite having the same record?
-Bama's resume is more in line with ours (than ole miss is), but they are 3 spots ahead of us
-Miami hasn't played a soul all season, and has a loss, and is ranked ahead of us
-If bama/ole miss/uga are chained at the hip in that order, why is bama ahead of miami?

-We lose on the road to ole miss and drop 9 spots. Miami losses to shitass tech and only drops 5 spots
-We beat a top 7 ranked UT and move up 2 spots. Bama beats Mercer and moves up 3 spots?

None of this shite makes sense.

I agree, but they will pull whatever talking point they need in order to get UTrans into the playoffs.

The only scenario I see at this point to keep them out of the playoffs would be if they lose to Kentucky and A&M. If this happens, I don't see how they could justify putting them in without looking like complete idiots.

Y'all can talk about quality wins and losses, wins against ranked teams, offensive & defensive rankings, etc. but they will figure out a way to turn the narrative where UTrans gets into the playoffs.

I don't understand what you mean. Not saying it isn't a true statement but your answer doesn't address his point.
