No, that'd be a 2-6 model. Tennessee would have 2 opponents that didn't change in that situation : Alabama and Vanderbilt.

That game is just blah to me, and not because of the W-L ratio since they joined the conference.

It's blah because the game has no history. Prior to Missouri joining the SEC, Arkansas and Missouri had only played 3 times in the regular season, and not once since the early 60s. LSU and Arkansas at least had a fair amount of history when Arkansas joined the SEC. There was notably a big gap, but those two teams played aabout 40 times prior to Arkansas joining the conference.

My guess would be

OM/MSU
Bama/Auburn
Florida/UG
USCe/UK
OU/Texas
Mizzo/Arky
A&M/LSU (maybe swap A&M and Arky?
Tenn/Vandy

Right? What are we, as a conference, sacrificing for more money and TV viewers?

Been doing it for 30 years.

We were forced to give up our traditions, why are yours more sacrosanct than ours?

From what I understand, Texas and Oklahoma are getting a vote. Even though they haven't joined yet, it will affect them when it comes to fruition.

LSU is in a grouping with Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas A&M

A founding member of the SEC will be playing more SWC, Big XII, and Big Eight teams than SEC teams on an annual basis.

Sounds miserable.

They can be treated as OOC games, but I wonder how that works in practice. So they'd be OOC except in years where they fall on the rotation? Seems dumb to me

If those games HAVE to be played then it shouldn’t be an issue

I also don't understand how it makes sense from a tv perspective. There are a lot of long-standing games between teams with huge fan bases. Replacing Tennessee with (no offense) Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, etc. is just dumb. No one is going to watch those game and that's effectively what they'd be doing

Ole Miss and State are pushing 1-7

LSU is solidly 3-6

I can see it, since Ole Miss' 1 is presumably Vandy. I just don't want to be in an SEC West that hardly has anyone from the old SEC in it.

yep, it's ridiculous. We would lose every historical matchup we have.

It sucks, but it's been trending in the direction of this since the day we added Carolina and Arkansas and decided to be "forward thinking" aka make a lot of money.

In 10 years it will be the NFL in roughly every way - bland schedules, big playoff, players on salary, etc.

However, even the NFL has teams play their rivals every year (2x, actually).

Maybe dilemma is a better word. They wouldn't be playing all those teams every year

Too much money to be made to only have Oklahoma visit the swamp once every 20 years

We should want 2-6 at least to get 10rc on the schedule.

1-7 is fricking gay and is gonna cause some annual rivalries to go away.

A&M isn’t getting Texas. Would most likely be
LSU-A&M
Texas-Oklahoma
Ole Miss-State
Arkansas-Missouri
Tennessee-Vandy
Bama-Auburn
Georgia-Florida
Kentucky-USCE

If it's 1-7 with divisions then Texas and A&M wouldn't be on the list, since they'll be in the same division.

What tradition were you forced to give up?

Again, I'm advocating for LSU and Ole Miss to play annually.

I bet he claims LSU had an entitlement to night games in Tiger Stadium and had to give up that entitlement to CBS, who got first pick of the games to air.
