Said as much on the Jordy Cullota show this morning. He was in Destin all week and while they didn’t take an official vote, the movement is in favor of the 1-7 schedule model with no divisions, 1 permanent opponent, and roaring the other 14 schools every other year, with a full home and home rotation every 4 years.
Main influences at the moment are around maximizing SEC bowl/playoff berths, which the majority now believe is best accomplished via 1-7.
Some secondary rivalry games would not be played annually under this plan, but with 4 OOC games left they can still be scheduled out of conference if the schools want.
Official decision expected late summer.
Hate to see it.
Will they have a press conference to announce LSU, Ole Miss, and State officially joining the Big 12?

A&M isn’t getting Texas. Would most likely be
LSU-A&M
Texas-Oklahoma
Ole Miss-State
Arkansas-Missouri
Tennessee-Vandy
Bama-Auburn
Georgia-Florida
Kentucky-USCE

Right? What are we, as a conference, sacrificing for more money and TV viewers?
shite, the ridiculous "pod scheduling" proposals had LSU playing more Big XII/SWC/Big Eight teams than SEC teams.

is a simple majority all it takes? I thought amending bylaws took a 2/3 majority vote.

Ole Miss and State are pushing 1-7

LSU is solidly 3-6

Why can’t those games be played OOC? Serious question.

Yes as they need a new model one way or the other.

Georgia-Auburn Alabama-Tennessee Texas-Oklahoma Ole Miss-LSU 4 of the most historic interstate rivalries in college football, gone from being yearly contests. I don't get it.

If I was ole miss I’d be pushing for the 3-6. Every model has said it’s lsu, state and Vandy. That’s a good draw considering you get Vandy as your third.

To put it into perspective:
Auburn and Georgia and Bama and Tennessee have played in all but one SEC season. Ole Miss and LSU have played in all but three.
It's not the SEC without these games.

Tennessee would get either Kentucky or Vanderbilt. Whoever of Vandy/Kentucky does not get Tennessee would get South Carolina
LSU is in a grouping with Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas A&M that results in either Arkansas or Texas A&M for LSU. My guess is they keep Texas-Oklahoma

I’m not even sure who our 1 would be under a 1-7. Bama and Auburn get each other obviously, Florida would get Georgia, A&M would get Texas, Ole Miss would get Moo State. I guess Arkansas?
I wouldn't mind LSU at all. Would like Texas, A&M, or Ole Miss also. Just hope we don't get stuck with Mizzou. And I don't mean that disrespectful. That game is just blah to me, and not because of the W-L ratio since they joined the conference.

The next decade Alabama and Georgia (and I'm sure others will) have set up great OOC schedules with 2-3 interesting P5 opponents every season.
So now we're gonna have to drop 1 of those for a usual game or play 11 or 12 P5 opponents? It's just stupid. There's no reason to do this. There plenty of alternatives that vastly improve the regularity of games between everyone in the league without destroying games that 1/3 of the conferences programs have cared about for 100+ years.
It would be one thing if it was this or nothing. But that's not the situation.

They can be treated as OOC games, but I wonder how that works in practice. So they'd be OOC except in years where they fall on the rotation? Seems dumb to me
Not to mention, creating that will cause a big problem in marquee OOC games already on our schedules.
I've said it before, but this continued expansion is/was dumb. Conferences don't need to be this big

Let me say it louder for people in the back: IDGAF which, if any, SEC team plays in the playoff. I want to play LSU and State every season.

In effect, you would have two permanent opponents.
For instance, Alabama’s permanent opponent will be Tennessee and Tennessee’s permanent opponent will be Vanderbilt. So Tennessee will play Alabama and Vanderbilt every year.

How do you figure that? Ole Miss surely isn't.

I'm a little mixed here. 3-6 makes more sense historically. On one hand, I don't want to lose the UGA game (regardless of recent results). But, part of me wouldn't mind getting a bigger variety of opponents and having a different roadmap to navigate every year, especially with the newcomers to the conference.
But, I also suspect AU and UGA would probably work it out as an additional OOC game, which would negate the opportunity for Auburn to fill one of those spots with an interesting OOC opponent. So that invalidates some of my curiosity as to how a 1-7 would work, as we'd be trading in conference variety for less OOC variety.
The only thing I truly don't like about 3-6 is that most everyone will get some permanent opponent that is meaningless to them (based on projections I've seen).
