I’m beginning to think that our best hope is to get completely blown out so there is no question that change at the top is needed. Staying around for 3 quarters only to inevitably lose isn’t getting us anywhere when we all know what the answer needs to be.

With the bowl bans done, unofficial visits reinstated and probation being over in 2020, we can fire Luke this year and hire someone who has some sense.

But the assholes in power will give Luke another year.

Ideally we

A) Fire Bjork and Vitter.

B) Hire their replacements

C) Let the new AD fire Luke and hire his guy.

If we go down that route then we have Luke for 2019 too though

Even if we fire Luke I wouldn’t trust Vitter and Bjork to hire a competent replacement.

We are finally at the point where we are on a level playing field hiring a coach for the future. Throw the bank at a serious coach. Leach. Someone of that caliber who might not have given us a thought with NCAA issues looming. Making the hire before the ncaa decided our recruiting fate would be short sited, but now we are in the clear and can get anyone who would otherwise normally consider ole miss. It will require bold leadership, sadly we don’t have that

Even with that, the idiots in charge will give him at least another year. This is so Cutcliffe part 2, it's not even funny. Even when we win, it feels like a loss.

I can almost absolutely assure you that Luke is going to be here in 2019 and more than likely 2020. Yeah Bjork could get fired and the new guy may indeed fire Luke sooner but it's very unlikely. I imagine they give him a shot to get a new DC revamp and then see where it goes. Keep in mind NCAA sanctions are made to destroy programs. Going 6-6 and now possibly another 6 or 7 win season is not suppose to happen.

Yeah we suck right now in most areas. But think about the few shining spots on D this year, Dasher, Tisdale, Jac Jones, Keidron Smith, Mo-Mo, Jaylon Jones, Hibbler, Coatney, Benito, Custis have all been good at times, most of them are super young. Like FR, SO. All of them come back next year. Each of them with the exception of Benito look lightyears better than last year and a good bit better than the first half of the season.

Now Mcgriff has to go, I'm not saying that. But if you throw most DC's out there a say, "hey your starting CB in a true freshman who was suppose to redshirt this year. Your top 3 DB's are out for the year. You're rotating in RB's on D because you're so thin on that side of the ball. Make them world beaters" you'd get laughed at.

Yeah most of the time it's simply alignment and terrible setup in general but get over yourself and realize this is what you got and actually support the damn kids who decided to play for the school youre a "fan" of. It's laughable reading these posts.

I actually think Bjork could hire a good coach. Luke winning the egg bowl was the worst thing that has happened to our team in the last year.

I agree, but one game should not determine a program's future.

What do we have to do to get rid of an AD? Other schools seem so comfortable to just can incompetent people. Why do we refuse to do that? Our program is run more like a charity than a business.

Vitter needs to go and will.

Bjork has been under the NCAA cloud since he got here. It isnt time to fire him.

Luke, I'm 100% sure isnt getting fired no matter what he does and IMO nor should he. I hate the hire of Luke more than anyone. (Well maybe not HJJ) This current situation is Freeze problem. Luke doesnt get the convience of blaming Freeze because he was part of the staff. So he just EATS the blame because OM fans are rightfully pissed and want to lash out at someone.

I'd give him another year to show improvement. Keep McGriff as a co Defensive coordinator but get my guy as the main guy. Let mcGriff do what he does best which is recruit.

Longo and this HS system is outta there. Get at offensive system that fits what we want to be on defense and get a defined identity.

If Luke doesnt show improvement or recruit well next season can him on more stable ground.

It’s been reported by several people that McGriff has really taken a step away from recruiting, and if so, that would be one of my biggest complaints about McGriff and Luke. Matt Luke needs to grow a pair and tell McGriff to give it up and go get him some players. The ship has sailed on McGriff being a good X’s and O’s coordinator so not making him do what he does best is criminal.

I think what also upsets a lot of people about Luke is that many view him as a shiny example of what is wrong with the athletics as a whole. It's not a meritocracy. It has become controlled by an insular bubble of flashy boosters who could care less if the product sucks as long as their access isn't threatened, the gameday experience remains an extension of their Oxford country club, and one of their guys is at the helm.

People are not only mad at Luke because of the product on the field but also because here's a guy that has fallen up into every position after position until he landed a multi-million dollar gig by virtue of his last name and winning the Egg Bowl (barely) against a backup-lead State team. He simply doesn't deserve it, and thus every failure is amplified considerably.
