Did anyone else see that Ferris State’s HC released a statement declaring the medical issues Trinidad faced?

Not sure if you can access this. The email is dated Nov. 15th so the NCAA would have had this already if it is real.

People making a big deal about how he was already redshirted, but aren't medical redshirts typically applied for retroactively? Feels like this is the normal process for applying for a medical redshirt.

The ncaa said in their statement denying the waiver that documentation has to be provided at time of students capacitation. They cited a doctors note from 2022 that Trinidad was doing well. Ignoring the other documentation, coaches own statements, etc.

Ten years ago we have no recourse. I have a feeling a courtroom will have a different take and won’t allow the ncaa to omit pertinent information that favors our case.

If there is one thing this state and alumni base has is lawyers.

The more I think about it, the more I'm behind getting rid of RS. Just give them 6 years to play 4 and eliminate all the BS.

Eventually it’s gonna be “if he’s enrolled in school why is he not eligible to play sports available to all other students at the university?”

LeBron James gonna be running point for Chris Beard in 2030.

I think it will end up being 5 to play 5. No more redshirts, no more extensions, just it is what it is, hope you stay healthy, etc... And I think I would be on board with that.

Looks like we got an Ole Miss guy overseeing the case. Automatic dub?

I wouldn't go that far. But Ole Miss law degree and judges are elected officials in the State of Mississippi, so....

I think this moves my needle to around 95% Chambliss is taking the snaps next year. I’ll leave that 5% in case someone else decides to fuk ole Miss over.

The judge overseeing the Trinidad Chambliss vs. NCAA case is Robert Whitwell. He's a former partner of Farese, Farese & Farese and has degrees from Delta State and Ole Miss Law. He's also been a US Attorney. Whitwell was the QB and captain at Northwest Community College in 1965.

When do we likely see a ruling on this?

Robert Q getting the case is a good sign. I’ve known him for many years. He and Ron Taylor had a small time practice in Southaven until Reagan appointed him US Attorney; surprised a lot of people because he had very little federal court experience. When God handed out the smart pills RQ wasn’t anywhere near the front of the line, but he’s a decent guy. His wife was a beloved science teacher at Oxford High. I had the impression that his strongest college affiliation was to Northwest CC, but he has ties to OM as well. His son was ASB president at OM.

I have downloaded and read the lawsuit. Very well done. It’s what we call a “speaking Complaint,” meaning that it’s more like a brief on the merits than merely setting forth the claims.

Until I read the complaint I had doubts about Trinidad’s standing to sue the NCAA; the Complaint answers those doubts. I also didn’t fully understand all the medical history and documentation, which is laid out in persuasive detail.

I almost never judge a lawsuit’s merits until I’ve seen both sides. And I can already spot a few places where the NCAA could poke holes in the case. And I’m sure the NCAA can get a persuasive attorney. But if I’m in the room watching Robert Q reading this Complaint, I’ll be seeing an awful lot of nodding his head in agreement. Dissuading him otherwise will be too much of an uphill battle for the NCAA in my opinion.

If I were a 2026 opponent of OM, I’d be game planning to face TC.

TL/dr: We good, baws

appreciate the detailed feedback, including the shortened account.

Any thoughts on time window of this?

I pulled up the docket and was surprised that only the Complaint was filed. I would have expected a motion for TRO or alternatively a PI to accompany the Complaint. The complaint by itself gives the NCAA 30 days to respond; a motion for TRO/PI can get things going much more quickly.
