Out of curiosity, say Kermit has a shite year next year and we part ways while Florida also parts ways with Mike White. Would y'all go after White?
I know all ADs always have an active short list of names they would call if they had to make a quick hire. I bet Mike would get the first call at this time. After that I’m not really sure.. it would have to be an up and coming name or someone in AK’s situation when we hired him from Cincinnati

I've never seen this play out in reality.

Can we hire Mike White ASAP? Kermit is a terrible coach guys.

I don't think he's a bad coach. He can just excel at a mid major program given the right resources, nothing wrong with that

We just got a former Louisville commit today. I still think Kermit can turn it around but we have to get better on offense.

I wonder if Buffen knows the rumors that Jaemyn Breakfield is transferring from Duke to Ole Miss. Missouri guard Pinson is another transfer to watch. 2 years ago Ole Miss thought he might transfer to them. Khadim Sy apparently reached out to Ole Miss about returning for another year.

Who’s better, Buffen or Breakfield? The stats, though by no means the full story, would indicate it’s Buffen.

Breakfield is the more talented player and has 2 more years of eligibility left compared to Buffen. I just find it odd that Buffen left us for UAB in less than a week. I think AK might’ve gotten some help from Kermit with Buffen.

Breakfiled was earning minutes on a roster full of NBA players and has a much higher ceiling. I’d take him 10 times out of 10 over Buffen.

Ole Miss lands 7-foot Miami (Fla.) transfer Nysier Brooks
quote:
Ole Miss basketball can scratch one need off its offseason checklist. The Rebels on Monday landed a commitment from Miami (Fla.) transfer Nysier Brooks. Brooks, who made the announcement on Instagram, started 25 of the 27 games in which he appeared last season and averaged 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds. He was one of two Hurricanes to start 20 games or more. In all, he saw action in 130 games over his career, including 62 starts. He sat out last season after transferring from Cincinnati.
quote:
The 7-foot, 240-pound Brooks entered the transfer portal last week and has one year of eligibility remaining. He seemingly replaces Romello White, himself a one-year transfer from Arizona State. White, in his only Ole Miss season, set the single-season school record for field goal percentage. Brooks is the second spring addition so far, joining former Louisville signee Eric Van Heijden. Van Heijden, a forward, pledged to the Rebels two weeks ago.

Les Miles got picked up by Long before doing any kind of background. Didn't we hire Nutt pretty quickly after Arkansas cut him loose?

We were wondering why he transferred. Think I know why now. In his commitment graphic he says “combo guard”, meaning 50% PG and 50% SG.
Fagan mainly played the 3 at Georgia, and he NEVER played PG. He played PG in high school so he was probably unhappy at the 3.
He’s kind of a black sheep. He isn’t a great shooter but is excellent at rebounding and layups.
There’s really no good position for him.
PG- Can’t handle ball well enough, can’t shoot
SG- can’t shoot
SF- too short
He’s a good player but just doesn’t really fit in.

He’s a solid SEC player but very flawed. He averaged 9 a game last year for Georgia being very efficient shooting 58 percent from the floor but only shot 27 percent from three. He plays bigger than 6’3 and was committed to Kermit at Middle Tennessee before Kermit left. Breakfield could announce for ole miss today.

What was the biggest area our guards struggled in last season? Three-point shooting. What is Fagan's worst offensive skill? Three-point shooting.
What was the biggest area our forwards excelled in last season? Rebounding. What is Nysier Brooks' best skill? Rebounding.
This is my biggest reason for not getting behind Kermit Davis as our coach. I just don't get it. We obviously need bodies to come in and play and we have to replace the pieces we lost, but can we not land anyone who actually addresses a need that we have as a team? There's still time to land some new guys, but consider me less than encouraged based on these first two guys.

He could add some quality depth or step up and fill a void scoring IDK. Glad to get someone like this instead of a bunch of mid-major transfers like we got last year. I think he’s a safer bet than some of the guys we signed last year from the portal.

I think kermit is all in on some of the guys we have on the roster hoping the light turns on. Joiner, Murrell, and soon to be the Duke transfer.
