What are your guys' thoughts on them potentially joining? If this were to happen, I'd almost wanna pull a ND and go independent in football

Put them in the west and bump Bama and Auburn to the east. Personally I'm all for it - I think they'd be good additions.

I would be for it just based on getting Alabama out of the West. Texas will be tough. But we would skull frick OU most of the time

We would be in a shite world of trouble as a program within 10 years. The only reason we are as big as we are is because of SEC money

Yep, and adding Texas and Oklahoma would bring in another 10-15 mil a year.

Adding them and not moving Missouri to the west would be stupid

Where is this unfaltering confidence coming from? We would also get SEC money still, we would only pull out of football @HJJ

Tell me you don’t know anything about Oklahoma football without telling me you don’t know anything about Oklahoma football.

The team that has made the playoffs almost every year and has had 2 Heisman trophy winners, two first overall picks all in the last 5 years?

That Oklahoma?

As a program we can’t be scared of added competition. Yeah it adds 2 really big time programs to the league but if we are going to survive these conference shuffles we have to embrace the challenge and commit to winning instead of running from it. If we push for cupcakes to join the SEC (UVA or NC state for example) don’t be surprised when the leagues value and in turn the ole miss brand/coaching value goes down.

I say let them join and keep pushing to make ole miss more desirable than it was last year. Stronger conference makes ole miss a stronger brand and more desirable spot for coaches and recruits.

West:
Texas
A&M
LSU
OU
Ark
Mizz
OM
State

East
Bama
Auburn
Tenn
Vandy
UGA
Florida
UK
USC

Moving Bama and AU is what makes sense if that were to happen. It just hit me but if you bring in OU and Texas into the West then move Bama and AU to the East then you would also need to move Mizzo to West.....That would make an even 8-8 East and West....Hmm...i like it even more now. Only issue is our divison would pretty much be the Big12 at that point. We would play A&M, Texas, OU, Mizzo, on a yearly basis. Doesnt seem right IMO

The other part of me would rather poach two ACC teams.

But I fully understand the will and want to add OU and Texas if possible. Would be massive for the conference.

Yeah but they get their share of that money PLUS what they generate themselves. Which is more than us. It will eventually give them an advantage.

I hope it has to be unanimous and somebody holds the line.

Personally, I only think adding those two schools would help recruiting for them as they're now in a more desirable conference. If they get added though, we better move to a pod system bc it already sucks enough having to wait what seems like a decade to face other teams.

Would have to do the pod system, with top 2 conf records going to the SECCCG. As a secondary Ole Miss supporter (my wife is an alum) would rather have that anyway because you would play every school home-and-home within a 4 year span rather than waiting 6 years.

I think that’s why the 4 team rolling pod will win out instead of 2 divisions

ETA
Also I feel like this wouldn’t have been leaked unless it was a done deal as far as having “yes” votes locked in

If I have this right, the pod system allows us to play everyone every 2 years? That would be a major + in my book honestly. It just seems with every expansion, the conference loses its identity, but money trumps all obviously.

All I can say is the main rant board is FUBAR'D now and it's only a maybe at this point. Also have no desire to visit Norman,OK for a football game. They don't anything for me but I'm not running the SEC.

Went there for the OU ND game the year ND made the national championship. Had an absolute blast - Norman is a fun place to visit for a weekend.

Both OU & Texas historically finish in the top 15-10 every year in recruiting. OU finishes top 5 every year currently. I don’t think it’s going to be a huge impact on their share of talent. They will still get whoever they want. If anything it might help pull players from Bama/lsu/clemson/Ohio state/UGA to help even the playing field a little more.

I want to highlight how absurd this statement is.
- Oklahoma has won 270 more games than Ole Miss (917 to 647)
- Oklahoma has been ranked in the AP poll 861 times. We have only been ranked 289 times.
- Dating back to 1895 (when OU first began playing foosball), they've won 10+ games in a single season forty times. On the other hand, we have managed to do that just six times.

I do not like the proposed move. We will only be further down in the pecking order. Plus, the regional, Deep South identity of our conference will be completely eviscerated. We will be separated from longtime rivals such as Alabama and Tennessee. I guess I should get with the times and accept the move though. At least we'll be playing the best
