I more so blame the last two players that struck out in the 8th for swinging at any curve ball. I had hoped after seeing the previous walks that Bianco had told the upcoming batters to exclusively swing at fast balls. Alas, when Furniss swung at the first curve in the dirt I knew he was about to strike out.. and when our 2nd baseman struck out swinging at two curves while looking at a fast ball (likely 88-89), I knew we were done.

Ironically enough, the game was damn near won in the 8th and yet it was also lost in the 8th. That was our moment, and we let it slip away.

Does anyone know what the real details are on Bianco's contract. It was released he signed a 4 year extension after the championship which would give him 1 more season. Is that accurate or did he get additional years similar to what was done for Kiffin and Beard?

I thought he only has one year left, but an article in 2024 said he had four years left?
This is what Grok says:
Mike Bianco, the head baseball coach for the Ole Miss Rebels, is currently under a contract that runs through 2026, with a base salary of $1.625 million annually. This contract was extended in August 2022 following Ole Miss's national championship win in the 2022 College World Series. The deal includes performance-based incentives, such as:
$15,000 for winning the SEC West
$25,000 for winning the SEC regular season or tournament championships
$25,000 for SEC Coach of the Year
$25,000 for hosting an NCAA Regional
$15,000 for appearing in a Super Regional or $25,000 for hosting one
$150,000 to $400,000 for appearing in or winning the College World Series
Milestone bonuses: $125,000 for 900 wins, $250,000 for 1,000 and 1,100 wins, and $250,000 for surpassing the SEC record of 1,218 wins
Additionally, his base salary increases by $35,000 for reaching a Super Regional and $50,000 for reaching the College World Series. Mississippi law limits public employee contracts to a maximum of four years, which is why the extension was set through 2026.

We gave him $25,000 to get beat by Murray State.

It’s the overall approach at the plate. Swing for the fences. They were swinging out of their cleats instead of just trying to make contact.

I do wonder when Keith will have his end of the season meeting with Mike and to know how that's going to go.

Guarantee there’s a 1 or 2 year extension

I thought they usually did them pretty quickly-like within a few days of the end of season.

Y'all may as well resign yourselves to seeing him return. He will get to stay as long as he wants to. That's reality. Yes, I would love to see someone new and good take the helm but it's just not going to happen until he retires.

Mike and the program had a much better season this year than the year prior, although the ending left us feeling disappointed. Also, at the end of the day it’s just baseball. Not many programs have a championship-winning coach at the helm. Let’s keep pumping football and basketball and let baseball go where it will TBH.

We’re gonna suck a fat dick next year.
That’s where baseball is going.

At least Mike has a chance to redeem himself that’s all that matters

I’m sorry, but it’s college baseball. Half the people who give a shite are posting in this thread.

sorantable, DMagic asked me to post a testimonial for you in honor of Pride Month. The Rebel Baseball Men Crowd don't understand the To Hell with Baseball Men Crowd because they love Swayze and the college game itself very much. Especially the student crowd. Currently. Once they leave Oxford and stop sitting in right field, checking out hot girls while getting trashed and watching a blue chip college program run a top notch Gameday experience, it'll run its course. That storybook 2022 Natty served a purpose for all Rebels. It was very cathartic. But now baseball is mainly warm weather, niche entertainment to get most of them to the next football/basketball season. If we make another Omaha Finals run, THBMC will show up again in numbers because they aren't attending Championship games in any other Big 3 sports

The good part about all this is we know our money people will want money going to football and basketball now instead of baseball since baseball just continues to be a letdown. So we are going to be bargain shopping in the transfer portal with a coach who underperforms 99% of the time while our two rivals (LSU and MSU) have top 5 coaches and a pretty stacked NIL budget. Definitely see next year going well.

I’m sure Mike planned a vacation in February that he’s off to right now. The team almost ruined those family plans.

If this is true, let’s not renew Mike’s contract and just pay another guy $500k to come in. If I should’t care, let’s not care the right way and fall in line with the rest of the nation. But if we commit significant resources the sport, figure it out.
All this talk about money going to football and basketball just feels like cope to me.

It's mostly just talk from folks that aren't actually big baseball fans. And that's fine - I'm a football fan followed by baseball. Basketball is entertaining, but not everyone is a huge indoor sports fan. We're not ever going to win a Natty in basketball - but you'll see those same folks continue to scream to throw money at that program and to ignore the major sport that delivered the only modern NC in most of our lifetimes.
