I’m not sure what it would take for me to attend the Mercer game and I live 1 Mile from the stadium

Honestly probably $1,000 cash . And I’d have to think about it .

I’m a millennial Chad and we sat in the NEZ. Petition Keith to move y’all and put the visitors in the hot box seats. But if you get moved and you still leave after halftime my original statement still stands.

Not a good move by Sam. He had either edibles or a pen in his car from the local news over here. I had no clue that edibles are a felony in TX….I got plenty in my fridge so I guess I am sort of a felonious badass.

OPD pulled Ayden Williams out of his vehicle last night and gave him a weed ticket for a ridiculous amount of money last night instead of just telling him to stomp on it. I'm not sure what is going on with OPD lately but they have a serious hard on with the football team currently and there is internal conflict with the force to stop going after them so bad. Even some of the officers agree its getting ridiculous.

They used to arrest you and then make you be an informant for them for an indefinite period of time.

Which is even more ridiculous. Its the officer's discretion on whether or not to ticket someone. Especially with it being legal now. There are cops that agree with that stance too. When the police department and the university are on the same page it just works so much better. Athens PD basically doesn't arrest players unless they kill someone

A better option might be for our players to quit smoking weed and getting shitfaced and behind the wheel. However, if that’s just not an option I would definitely like to see the OPD catch and release to a designated coach who in turn drops the hammer.

In a utopian society our players would abstain from weed and not get behind the wheel if they’ve even had so much as one beer, but unfortunately that’s not the case. It happens at colleges everyday. So we might as well have a different set of rules for the people that, let’s be honest, are the main drivers of everything in this town. Without football our enrollment is shite, businesses suffer, and OPD doesn’t get to sit on the corner of the square and pick off drunk 19 year olds all night. I know for a fact lane is over the police department BS and his way of fighting back is saying “we’re handling it internally” everytime someone gets arrested. It’s an F U to OPD and I’ve been critical of lane at times but I love that he’s doing this

Oh you’re exactly right. I’m just saying it would be easier for these guys to either not do it while getting the opportunity of a lifetime or have a solid partnership in place with LEO. It’s gotta be one or the other otherwise it’s a matter of time before the starting QB, RB or 5 Star LB gets caught mid season before the big game and his arse don’t play.

I'd rather them smoke some weed than get tanked off some booze.

Why isn't there a dedicated car service for the players? Seems like they could pay some students to sober drive after 6-7pm.

Didn’t realize Shay Hodge was the wide receivers coach at JA.
