Never said it would be a National Title. It needs to be that next step that would have been taken by Freeze had the NCAA shite not happened. If Freeze was our head coach still, we would win the west in the next few years. I want that at least from Luke if I'm going to accept him.

I've read this a couple of times and it still sounds a little far fetched.

How would any coach be able to make the next step as if none of this happened.

Luke started at 6-6 and on probation. Freeze started at 6-6 and got a bowl win. Freeze wasn't recruiting with probation, a two year bowl ban, limited scholarships and limited visitation by recruits.

Even with that, I think it's only fair that Luke gets a clean slate. At this point he is on the same pace as Freeze. This year should be somewhere in the 7-5 to 9-3 record. It could be better, I just don't see the defense progressing that much.

Next season the team gets very young and it may take a "great" hire at DC in order for the team to maintain. There might even be some regression. The offense could lose up to 9 starters, depending on how the season goes.

Had Freeze not Fricked things up. Shae and Jordan would be on the roster. They would probably have a better defensive coordinator and this team would be looking to get to ATL.

I'm waiting on the TT game to see if some real coaching has taken place.

The talk is to stop the run, at all cost. What I look to see, is an attacking defense that pressures TT's Juco QB into several mistakes and keeps him completely uncomfortable the entire game. It should look very similar to the OSU Sugar Bowl game.

Offensively we need to run the ball at will, with this offensive line. And take the big plays as they present themselves.

I believe that TT being favored in this game is a mistake. Sometimes the line in Vegas can jump a view points, but Ole Miss should be favored to win and if being coached properly they should win this game hands down.

Last year wasn't about coaching. Last year was about hanging on to a team. The exodus of more players would have been more of an issue than the losses. It gives them a chance to compete this season.

With that being said. If the defense starts out stinking things up, will Matt Luke fire the DC. Because if the defense is not better, then it's the DCs fault. There are too many really good athletes and many with experience for the defense to play so poorly.

There is no way in hell the 2012 defense should be better than this years' defense. But there is room to get worse and if that happens the DC has got to go.

This is why I have been critical of those who hate the Luke hire. You don't know if Luke will prove to be a great decision maker of coaches and personal yet. His job last season was to attempt to hold the team together. I think he gets a passing grade. Winning 6 is a win also. He now has to shock the world with some signature wins. He needs to do it this season, because next year it will be hard to do with a lot less talent.

I see 7-5 as the ceiling. There are very few if only maybe a couple of experienced athletes on that defense.

I mean, come on, Taylor Polk got significant playing time last season. And I know people like to celebrate his Rudy-esque contribution as a walk-on, but the fact that his crazy-waving arms was on the field the majority of the time speaks volumes about the athleticism of that defense.

Don't you have to pay for a membership for that? I've been told about that place a couple times. Gotta check it out.

starting corners - Webster 4 years, Jones 2 years
starting safeties - Woods 3 years, Moore 3 years,
starting DEs - Evans 3 years, Robinson 2 years
starting DT - Jones 2 years, Coatney 1 year JR TR
Starting star LB - Hartsfield 2 years, or Dasher RS- junior
Starting LBs- Bing-Dukes 2 years, Hibbler 2 years

back up corners - Julius 2 years, Hamilton 1 year
back up safeties- White RS Fr, Miller 1 year
Back up DEs - Shepard 1 year, Anderson 1 year
back up DTs- Donnelly 3 years, David RS FR
back up star LBs - Ordway 3 years, Custis 2 years both can play corner or safety also.
back up LBs- Evans 1 year, Baker RS FR, Clarke RS FR, Sanogo 1 year

There is plenty of experience on the defensive side of the ball. There just needs to be better in game coaching of the talent.

If we still had our LB coach who is now the head coach at Indiana, he would have this defense back in the top 10 in the country. He made Denzel a FR all-american. His in game play calling put players in position to make plays behind the line of scrimmage not 8 yards down field.

As for the ceiling for this team. They were in reach of 3 games that would have made them 9-3. A bad exchange between Ta'amu and Swinney in the Arky game. An interception in the aTm game. And if they had run the ball more and stopped Shae from running around so confused by the Cal defense they could have pulled off that game. Even with A.J. out the 2nd half.

TT is no better than Cal was last season.
aTm may be better.
Arky isn't going to be that good at all this year. Plus we play them in LR where we actually have a winning record against them.

I think SC at home we have a better than average chance.
I think LSU is going to be vulnerable. Only 3 returning offensive starters and a new OC.

We get Bama, Auburn and State at home. So the highest ranked teams we play, we get a chance at them at home.

Now next season the defense gets a lot less experienced, but not necessarily worse.

Lets hope some of those RS FR are starting by the end of the season.

That was far from the main reason we lost that game.

Meh. Our QB made a hilariously bad decision.

Shae was running around confused because every time he looked to our coaches for answers, dipshit McGee running the team looked like he was lost on the sidelines.

South Carolina is going to abuse our anuses. Muschamp is 10x the coach Luke is.

You talking about the Nike Clearance Center....no. It is in the “hood” down by the Elvis Mansion. You can get some great deals though. I routinely walk out paying $300 for items that would be over $1,000 total...then again I also use my 15% military discount.

I love the Nike Factory Clearance Outlet by Graceland! I got a pair of Kobe Xs for like $40 cheaper than they were still going for online, and I got a pair of Jordan XX8s for $40 after tax during a Memorial Day sale when they were still $120 online. I get most of my running and exercise shoes there too. I probably go at least twice a year. Now that the Grizzlies have tweaked their jerseys, you can get Gasol and Conley jerseys from last year for under $50 while they were over $100 just a few months ago. I get a lot of fancy basketball and running socks down there too (the ones that are normally around $20 a pair and have a ton of padding) for super cheap. I like hyper elites a lot (great for both basketball and golf), and I’ve found them for as cheap as $2 a pair, and I’ve seen plenty of other great stuff for 80-90% off when they’re doing a sale. Even if it’s not a sale, the stuff there mostly has great prices. It’s right past Graceland, so it’s a relatively safe part of Whitehaven, but, as with most places off the beaten path in Memphis, be wary after dark. It’s completely fine during the day though

^ Yeah what he said. Nike built a huge distribution center just North of Memphis so all of their returns come there due to FedEx....the Clearance Center gets a ton of stuff that is still for sell on line due to that reason (also why the Pottery Barn and William-Sonoma Outlets off Popular are so good as well)

1) I didn't say those were the causes for the losses.
2) I simply meant that if those plays were executed correctly the outcome in those games could have been different.
3) South Carolina let Kentucky come in and beat them by 10 points. The same Kentucky team that Ole Miss was able to beat in Lexington.

So for all the great coaches Luke will face this season. I think Muschamp is way down on the list.

Simply put, a more efficient offense that protects the ball and can run when necessary and a couple of decent run to the ball linebackers and the Rebels have a chance.

After all, they do have a couple of all-americans on their roster. Both of which will be first round draft picks, if not top 10 draft picks.

Their is plenty to be excited about, until the results are in at least.

You are just dead set against Luke being successful.

Your biggest fear should be, that he will be successful.

It's a simple calculation.

South Carolina loses to Kentucky then Ole Miss beats Kentucky (at UK). By that logic that makes Ole Miss better than both Kentucky and South Carolina.

You guys really need to start your own Ole Miss bitch fest thread. 75% of these posts have nothing to do with the original intent of this thread
