He’s a cheap hire that keeps things going through the playoffs.
Who else would we go after this cycle? A panic hire is offer some OC or G5 or retread.

Disagree on panic hire.
In playoff run, hiring an outside coach to a large deal doesn’t help us right now.
Golding hopefully gets buy in and we make a little run.
Not sold on sumrall or golesh. Maybe good maybe bad, probably average.
Golding has a good defense when we have the dudes. We will have money to spend on players. A good defense can win ball games.
Or it won’t work.

Adding to that, we can't do a bunch of long interviews and still be in that process when the committee comes out with their final rankings. We could get royally hosed if we were in that situation.

Yep - I think we would have hired Sumrall if Lane hadn't dragged it out like he did. Screwed us on the timing.

That last one is true, but I’m not gonna hold that against him. He did a LOT of weird shite in that first year and he was a real problem.

One of the beat guys said one of KC’s top priorities yestersay was making sure the CFP wouldn’t screw us. The first thing that crossed my mind when Pete was announced was regarding that. I’m sure he was advised that promoting our DC to HC would mitigate some of the concern vs not having a coach, having an interim coach, or still being searching once final rankings came out.

Which is why I think we are entertaining bringing Weiss back even though he was on the plane today

Did they really pay us $1M for Weiss. Lane was that petty he told them to give up a million just to frick us. Why is this not being talked about

All I got to say is Pete and the Defense ain’t the reason we lost three games last year. The reason is in Baton Rouge right now. Defense wins championships. Give Pete the hosses he needs on defense and hire a strong OC.
