UCLA is in the nicest part of LA.
Could totally see him living in Brentwood and coaching the Bruins.

Yeah if money is no object California really is an awesome place to live. Although I don’t know if UCLA is willing to offer $9+ Million

It would be less money, less resources, less prestige, etc... if location was everything he'd never have left FAU. I don't see UCLA being a concern. Florida or Oregon would be

I'm not concerned about any of them. Not losing any sleep. Nothing is happening with A&M and Kiffin and any school wanting him would have to pony up a buttload of cash. At that point, if he leaves, he leaves. I would just hate to lose any commitments. Either way, we are an extremely attractive job and we will be fine.

Mizzou is a 3 or maybe 4 loss team with our schedule and couldn’t beat LSU on their home field. Someone tell me why they’re four spots ahead of us in the CFP rankings?
Right now, we might end up in the Citrus Bowl.

They beat the shite out of Tennessee last week and we got humbled by Georgia. It’s as simple as that.

I reckon the voters have short memories.

And as bad, those idiots have Oregon State ahead us. Same record, schedule not remotely as difficult and they lost to a 4-6 team.

Yep, need some luck now to get into a NY6 bowl

Nah. If we win out at 10-2 and second in the west, we will get a NY6 bowl.

The committee is using a heavy amount of recency bias. I don’t like it, but I think Missouri is light years above where they were against LSU. The offensive line getting shaken up before and during the Georgia game absolutely killed us and made us look non competitive when they made Georgia a game for 3 quarters. Louisville will lose which will move us up. Oregon state will too, but them even having Oregon state ranked ahead of us currently is just disrespectful imo

If Mizzou wins out and we do too, we'll be the fourth-highest ranked SEC team. There have been four SEC teams in a given New Year's Six twice in the past:
2020 - Bama (CFP), Florida (Cotton), Georgia (Peach), Texas A&M (Orange)
2018 - Bama (CFP), Georgia (Sugar), Florida (Peach), LSU (Fiesta)
I guess it is possible if we're inside the top 11 (don't forget the automatic qualifier from the G5), so we need some losses ahead of us in addition to winning and looking good doing so.

We get penalized for playing UGa and on the road
Had we played anyone else from the East to go along with Vandy we would win and be 11-1
Kinda shittey how it shook out

UCLA is concerning because of the location. Kiffin loves the coast and they have a future 1st round qb in place there and a good defense. that said, things are about to be a lot harder for UCLA not that they are moving to the Big Ten and football will always be the 2nd most important sport there. But at the end of the day, coaches choose certain schools/locations for different reasons so if he just wants to live in LA I get it. I still believe he sees a legit change he gets Bama in 3-4 years when Saban actually retires and that will take him through his daughter's college graduation.

My take:
CLK is coaching at a traditionally middle-of-the-road P5 program and taking us to consistent heights not achieved since the 1960's. He had to humble himself and work his way back up the P5 ranks after leaving one P5 program and being unceremoniously terminated from another P5 program, both of which were considered blue chip at the time.
CLK is not going to leave Ole Miss to go to another middle-of-the-road program that does not have a history of winning championships short of a stupid big ($12 million plus) contract that Ole Miss won't match. He is in the top 10 highest paid college football coaches with relatively low pressure.
In the current trajectory, CLK's next stop is Alabama or a destination job like Alabama, of which there are very few. Nothing less. UCLA is less. Florida is less. Texas A&M is less. Oregon is less.
Honestly, I believe short of unforeseen circumstances, CLK stays at Ole Miss until the Alabama job comes open (next 5 years), and if he doesn't get that job, then he might move on depending on how his current job is doing. Hell-with the playoffs Ole Miss may eventually be a blue-er chip "destination" job if CLK and NIL keep us heading in the right direction.

Hearing TAMU has gone with Elko. They’re letting him finish out the season.

Agreed. He's a hell of a coach and the NIL checks will do the recruiting for him.

I was hoping they were going to hire Schumann.
