What? I think Simmons just lost his job. It's Trinidad's to lose at this point. Nice to have two good option though.

I'm just taking it one game at a time this year.

My feeling is if Trinidad starts the rest of the year then Simmons hits the portal and we are left looking for next season. But you have to prioritize this season and worry about that then. And Lane and Co obviously can work the portal.

Nah I wouldn’t expect Simmons to hit the portal. Trinidad is a senior so it’s not like they will have a QB competition

Austin is getting over a million bucks . He’s lost this job fair and square and has been outplayed

I’m not losing any sleep for him

There’s too much on the line and sacrifices from the fans all over the place to just ‘punt’ the season and start Simmons just to placate him so he hopefully won’t transfer, which he still could if someone throws a big enough bag at him. There’s no loyalty .

Guys, just cheer the player on the field and let the guy making $9 million a year worry about this stuff.

I just hope our defense can take a step forward this weekend. Through 4 games this year, we've recorded a grand total of 4 sacks.

We didn't sack Nussmeier once in last season's game. We didn't blitz either.

The book on how to beat Nussmeier is out there. He's lost on the road to A&M and Florida. A&M sacked him twice and Florida sacked him six times last season. He also lost at home to Bama. They sacked him twice but harassed him all night.

We struggle to stop the run, but LSU struggles to run it. I'm not sure where that issue will end up on Saturday.

Regarding Simmons, IDGAF about a transfer right now and I don't think he does either. It's not like he was benched for poor play. He couldn't walk.

Looks like we get State, LSU and Oklahoma as our static opponents

Oklahoma is random. Really wanted Vandy or Arkansas as #3

I knew we would get stuck with an outlier that made no sense.

A lot of people jumping the gun on Chambliss. I love how he has looked but LSU defense is going to be on another level. We might be screaming for Simmons before halftime. For better or worse though, he is going to get a shot because no way can you put Simmons out there against that pass rush.

Now, if he beats LSU or dazzles in a close loss then the conversation changes and he is in the driver’s seat going forward.

The cold hard reality of a 9-game schedule is going to sink in tomorrow.

I don't think that's really it - it's just comparing the (very small) body of work between Simmons and Chambliss. Chambliss, so far, has yet to turn the ball over, looks like a better threat running the ball, higher completion percentage, and our offense seems to function at a higher gear.

The "ceiling" to Simmons is than higher than Chambliss (IMO), but what has happened on the field this season, Chambliss has just outplayed him.

Chambliss 67.7% completion percentage, 11.6 Average, 4 TD, 0 INT, 186.4 Rating, 195 yards rushing on 36 carries (5.4 ypc)
Simmons 60.7% completion percentage, 10.4 Average, 4 TD, 4 INT, 157.0 Rating, 69 yards rushing on 16 carries (4.3 ypc)

I think Simmons can be a great qb eventually, but ceiling doesn’t matter if his floor is too low (which it currently is, based on Chambliss’ play thus far). The way i see it is this is Trinidad’s team right now and it should stay that way until Austin improves enough to overtake him. And I don’t see that happening right now.

Either way I hope we’re able to throw Chambliss some NIL cash because he deserves it

Because he makes good decisions, is more accurate inside 20 yard attempts and can throw with touch>>big arm, throw it 70 yds and throws the hardest

Austin has better touch any day of the week and he doesn’t under throw or throw behind the receivers like TC. His issue is needing to take a sack instead of forcing a throw. The issue will be that LSU will stack the box to stop the run and their DBs are more athletic and thus the windows will be smaller. All that being said I will gladly back up either QB Lane decides to start.

Yeah, a biennal trip to Norman. How nice for our fan base. Vandy getting AU, UT, and MSU??? At least they kept UT because the other two make no sense.
