It would appear we have ourselves a full blown quarterback controversy.

Chambliss didn't arrive until May, but looking at the play of these two, it's pretty evident that he's better than Simmons at this point.

I was at a wedding last night so can't wait to watch the full game. I just got snippets of the game.

Define better. He can execute the offense better, yes, because he makes better reads and is very precise with his throws.

He doesn’t have Simmons arm strength though. Look at some of the incompletions over the middle where he made the right read but threw it behind. And given this probably isn’t a playoff push year, I wish Simmons was healthy so he could develop the rest of his game.

But yeah, Chambliss gives us the best chance to win against anyone other than UGA/Bama/LSU.

I think this is another game that we would’ve lost last season. Really great to see that the team can close out games.

Simmons did pick up a first down and threw a touchdown pass on a bad ankle last night. It’s not like the offense wouldn’t have scored a lot with Simmons last night. Simmons definitely has the stronger arm and can make more big time throws. The two things Chambliss does do better than Simmons is protect the football and he is way better of a running QB.

Simmons may be out a few weeks with that ankle. You just can’t function in this offense as a QB if you can’t run so it’s kind of a moot point. Let Chambliss have a run while Simmons heals up, see what he can do and then make the call.

This. We need Simmons to develop for the future.

Nah last years offense would have touched them even worse like well last year’s game

Offense wasn’t the problem. BUT I don’t think last year‘s offense picks up that first to close out the game.

Last year’s defense I think would have had a couple of stops. Definitely would have caught one of the 5 passes that should have been interceptions.

The offensive line continues to gel and impress me

Definitely feel better about the offensive line now than I did after week 1.

Chambliss is fun to watch and can move our offense, but he isn't elevating it to beat LSU, Oklahoma, or UGA for us like Simmons can do with his arm. Let Chambliss beat Tulane so Simmons can get fully healthy for the LSU game.

That Simmons ankle and fully healthy are two things I worry don’t become one for far too long.

*As healthy as possible* we need his arm and ability to stretch the field

21/29 for 353 and a TD. 62 yds on the ground and two more TDs in his first SEC start is fantastic. He makes our offense more versatile especially with the mongoloid we have calling plays. We need Simmons healthy and getting reps obviously but TC has been a steal so far. He’ll only get better the longer he goes as the starter. He missed a couple of open throws by not looking back to the middle of the field but we scored on those drives anyway.

This not disparaging Simmons in any way I think he should be a star for us; just saying reality is he’s probably ~3 weeks away from being full speed and I’m thankful we have a more than capable backup.

Last years D would never have played as poorly as we did last night.

Yes, but our offense is superior this season. We were a pass only team last season. This year, we are multi-dimensional, so we can hang in a shootout.

Chambliss looked so much better than Simmons has. He absolutely earned the QB1 position.

He looked incredibly poised but lets not fool ourselves. Austin has twice the arm talent and opens up the playbook. If he can learn to take a sack or throw away the ball we have a much higher ceiling.

He is not precise, in fact the WRs made him look good because he was often throwing behind them.

That's better than throwing the ball to the other team though, right?
