That's a solid argument. But there's also the argument that a lot of running backs are rhythm backs and it's hard for them to play at a high level when only used sparingly.

That argument is irrelevant to my point, which is why tfrick were we giving the ball to a defensive lineman on two fourth and ones with the playoffs on the line.
It is relevant regarding Bentley's absence from the UK and Flarda games. He didn't have a carry in either game. Shite, Parrish was injured and didn't play against the Gators. Someone tell me why Bentley didn't play again and didn't even get a single carry? He was easily the most experienced back on campus.
For frick's sake - Pegues had six carries against the Gators. Micah Davis, a fricking WR, had eleven.
Someone tell me why Bentley didn't touch the ball in the Swamp. IDGAF about rhythm. He was, unquestionably, the best option we had.

Just put it out there you wordsmith. Quit beating around the bush.

The Bentley thing was weird as hell. PERIOD. There's just no explaining it away in terms of how it was handled. One of these days we may get an ah ha explanation, but in terms of how it was handled, that will never not be a shite show.

There's really no way to justify or defend this situation. If he did something egregious, kick him off the team. Or suspend him for X number of games.
But to just let him rot on the bench because you're mad at him is inexcusable. Especially when you don't have a better option.
How many more 70 yard runs like the Egg Bowl did he have in him that we never saw? Two? Three? How many of those would have won one of the three games we lost? How many 4th downs would he have converted? How many of those would have won one of the three games we lost?
You can't do that math without coming up with one or two extra wins. Program changing wins.

I can set aside the hypothetical 70-yarders. I'm more pissed about this against Florida:
8:30 (1st), 1st and 10 - Micah Davis runs for two yards to the Ole Miss 37, 2nd and 8 upcoming
5:36 (1st), 4th and 1 - JJ Pegues runs for no gain at the Florida 11, turnover on downs
11:08 (2nd), 1st and 10 (coming off of an interception) - Micah Davis runs for -1 yard to the Ole Miss 44, 2nd and 11 upcoming
10:23 (2nd), 3rd and 1 - Micah Davis runs for -1 yard to the Florida 47, 4th and 2 upcoming
10:35 (3rd), 1st and 10 - Micah Davis runs for -1 yard to the Ole Miss 24, 2nd and 11 upcoming
5:43 (3rd), 4th and 1 - JJ Pegues runs for no gain to the Florida 10, turnover on downs
11:22 (4th), 1st and 10 - Micah Davis runs for 2 yards to the Ole Miss 11, 2nd and 8 upcoming
Shitty runs on 1st and 10 and 3rd and 4th and short by a WR and DT while Bentley - easily the best back on campus - sat around twiddling his thumbs.

He showed up 15-20 lbs overweight for camp was one of the reasons he rubbed lane the wrong way. I was told that from someone in the program. Now that being a reason to refuse to play he all year still is very suspicious to me. It’s so bizzar.

Didnt have a carry in the LSU game until the second half and took his first handoff 50 yds to the house.

Five-star edge guy out of IMG commits to Oklahoma over us and Texas. I'm utterly convinced we are never getting a Five-star again who is not a a Mississippian.

Lost our top recruit to Florida state. Was surprised when he committed to us so not surprised he's staying closer to home. Hopefully this frees up money to flip some of these local recruits

Well, not our top, but close to the top. That cat has been all over the place with his recruitment.

This is his 5th decommitment and 6 commitment. He was never going to stick here (or FSU).

The kid is a headcase and I won't be shocked if he never plays a meaningful down in college football

That’s what they said about me and I turned out just fine.

Bored watching old LSU games and 2003 Ole Miss came up. Honestly Vaught sounded louder than I ever previously heard it live, and I went to every LSU Ole Miss game for 12+ years.
Anyway, Ole Miss should bring back a larger block “M” and script “rebels”. script rebels looks so clean.

The loudest I’ve ever heard it was either the pick 6 in the 2003 LSU game or during the 2012 A&M game and the entire stadium was somehow in unison screaming “Defense”

Sincerely glad your athletic department has broken the WAOM spell. Watching that game it’s wild how many blown plays and miscues Ole Miss had.
If Cutcliffe could recruit he’d have been in a lot more discussions as an elite coach. LSU was absolutely more talented with a loaded coaching staff and Rebs had LSU by the balls.

Maybe in their time but 2014 Alabama was louder than both when that instant review call came in and the absolute loudest I can remember was that 2023 game against LSU. That stadium was loud as shite all game long. I even heard LSU fans talking about it afterwards... how we were "too loud."
