Yet there are many that say Luke automatically gets another year. If so, I'm done with Ole Miss for real. Luke has done more damage to our program than the NCAA ever even dreamed of doing.

The only reason I think he gets another year is because a majority of our team is young so they're gonna run with the "now they're experienced" route for next year. We'll still suck though

Luke is getting another year under just about any circumstance. Maybe an incredible Egg Bowl blowout would do it but I don’t see it happening.

Get ready to be done with Ole Miss for real because he’s getting another year unless he drops two epic goose egg blowouts in the next two games, but he’ll still probably get another year just because.

And Mike Norvell is just up the road. Watching. Judging.

I have tried to hold out hope for this team. The narrative that we are "1 year away" or "2 years away" just isn't cutting it for me this morning. If we lose and go 4-8, what reason do we have to keep Luke? Here's a summary of Luke's missteps in 3 years as HC (1 of those being interim).

*15-19 overall record
*6-16 SEC record
*Win total has decreased every year since he's been here (assuming we lose out)
*Zero top 25 wins (close games don't count)
*No wins vs. Auburn, Texas A&M, Alabama, or LSU
*Attendance has dipped substantially from 4 years ago
*Six 4* players have already transferred during Luke's tenure
*Worst passing game that we have had in a decade (2019)
*Worst defense we have ever had (2018)
*Been boatraced multiple times (Alabama all 3 years, Auburn in 2017 MS State in 2018, LSU in 2018). Keep in mind we haven't even played LSU or MS State yet this year.
*Recruiting has been above average to good for a team on/coming off of probation but hasn't ultimately made a difference in team performance.

I am seriously about to be done with this team as well.

Matt Luke expected to return for 4th season
quote:

Luke’s contract would place his buyout around $6.5 million and, when combined with the contracts of offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez and defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre, would push the cost of dismissing Luke well north of $12 million. University leadership has told AD candidates that is too much for the university to bear at this time.

Why can't we just get rid of Luke and bring in a HC that will put his foot down and make Rich Rod run an actual offense. Then there would be no need to get rid of all 3.

Yeah that logic seems incredibly flawed. If we want to get rid of Luke, we have to get rid of Rich and Mike? Mike has been a bright spot and Rich has at least shown he knows how to run the ball. Fire Luke, definitely keep Mike and maybe keep Rich, get a better HC, and see what happens.

If we are going to be one dimensional I'd rather it be passing.

Nah, one dimensional passing just gasses your own defense when you play a decent team. And there are a lot of decent teams on next year’s schedule.

He said "if" we are one dimensional.

I would rather be one dimensional in passing too. The difference being that passing teams can at least put up some big wins and the games are more exciting. A run-only team is pretty much guaranteed a losing record and it is boring boring boring.

Big wins over UT Martin and New Mexico State types. Now, if you pair that one dimensional passing team with a good defense that’s different but if your defense is weak that’s a recipe for getting your arse kicked regularly.

Why does he even have a buyout? Who was going to hire this guy so we had to write that into his contract?

Just for clarity's sake. I would much rather have a functional OC who calls a balanced offense and can run and pass. However, because WAOM it's either one or the other is seems.

And yes I too would like to pair that balanced offense with a functional defense that creates turnovers and can be a threat to sack the opposing QB

How freaking stupid is Ole Miss for having this large of a buyout for Matt Puke? He was easily the worst position coach we had during the good times and yet still managed to get this juicy of a contract. It should have been incentive based with a minimal buy out or none at all. What had he done as a coach before becoming HC? During the good times our OL was chit with him as OL coach.

A lot of our team will be in the portal after the Egg Bowl!! Luke getting a 4th year is freaking DUMB MOVE!! If they are worry about the buyout.. I am sure if they show they wanted to move on from luke their would be a GoFundMe and his buyout would done within a hour!!

The more I think about him coming back, the angrier I get. Average attendance is under 50,000 and donations are way down. How the frick can the university be ok with this?

Watching The Season is the most awkward and painful thing ever. You can tell the players know he is a joke
