Read it on 247 that they gave the green light to Freeze to pay up to 1mil or something like that. Even today in that letter though Bjork said he has all the resources to pay for the best and brightest. Money isn't going to be an issue. It is going to be the NCAA investigation

if Strong takes a new job he loses money on his Buyout

Its generally that the buyout is reduced by the amount of the new salary, so he would be making the same amount of money he did at UT w/ us paying part and them paying the difference. Would be a good move to stay in coaching.

Id be fine paying him 2 Million.

If we are going to pay 2M, why not go after a younger, better DC? Our DC would be the highest paid in the country by 400k, and, if we have to do that, why are we paying Freeze so much? We just paid 5M for this steaming pile of shite of a season + assistant salaries.

Not all coaches. Dan Werner is safe because he brought in Shea but that's it. We aren't getting Charlie Strong and I'm 99% positive they've already got their guy picked out. It'll probably be underwhelming. I'm also pretty sure the NCAA is leaving by Christmas so there's that but who cares we suck anyway.

He can't take a job and get all of his buyout. He will sit out at least a year.

Just takin a break for the holidays

Freeze will have the entire team over to his house to watch 'A Madea Christmas' and explain that the investigation is over ... But then Chuck will show up (uninvited of course) with a bunch of those 4 gallon holiday aluminum buckets of caramel/cheese/buttered popcorn and the NCAA will be back on our asses... Can't win for losing.

Not necessarily. Texas would still be on the hook for the difference between his buyout and new salary.

For example, using easy numbers, if he was slated to get 100k in the buyout and we pay him 75k, Texas would still be required to pay the difference (25k) so that he gets his full 100k.

I REALLY hope we don't go the Allen/McGriff route. It's just more of the same. Fire the entire defensive staff except Kiffin. Get some new blood and let him bring some guys that fit his scheme.

McGriff can at least recruit, Allen was not good at recruiting.

ETA: I can't tell if this is real, but some of the 247 posts I read were acting like Allen as DC is a done deal. I'll be furious is this is true.

Not saying my sources are legit or anything but I've pretty consistently heard March/April as their departure date. They're not giving us any shot at salvaging this recruiting class.

I cancelled when they announced the price increase a few months ago. The content isn't even worth their previous price

Tosh Lukoil? Anyone heard this name floated around? Bama co-DC/linebackers coach. 35 yrs old, one of best recruiters in the nation. His first year as outside lb coach they had the most sacks in Saban Era.
