We got a 2026 commit today. Another check mark in the overall weirdness that points towards mine and HJJ’s hunch that he stays.

There are some assistant coaches that really still want to be here. Even CWJ may not leave with Lane. Golding is like 100% still here no matter what.

All things considered, this is encouraging.

Well you basically have a stable job, solid team, etc vs walking into a wood chipper to try and rebuild a team that will still result in you getting fired even if you win a national championship

I thought I remembered seeing that Lane has basically paused all recruiting for the time being. Has that been confirmed anywhere?

That would give Ole Miss "cause" to fire him if he stopped recruiting.

And we may reach that point, but we are trying to avoid that because that would immediately win him the PR war.

I think we would win the PR battle. Some simple statement like:
The University of Mississippi has relieved Lane Kiffin of his duties as head football coach, effective immediately.

During what has been a historic season on the field, Coach Kiffin has actively pursued and through public actions, indicated his desire to coach at other institutions. These actions, combined with repeated public criticism of the University, its supporters, and the Oxford community, have created unnecessary distractions, undermined our program, and damaged relationships with the fans and alumni whose passionate support makes Ole Miss special.

While the University has consistently provided Coach Kiffin with the resources and support he requested, we hold all employees to a standard of conduct that places the best interests of the institution, its student-athletes, and its community first. No individual is bigger than the University of Mississippi.

We thank Coach Kiffin for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors.

I think I read somewhere that he called all staff back from recruiting on the road last Friday for meetings and practice.
