I live in BR and my LSU buddies have hoped for this all year. I told them the same thing Henry, that if Lane leaves it won’t be due to money as I could see us paying him 15 too.

We will know how this will play out based on our next 3 games

If we manage to pull this off and keep Kiffin just because we make the playoff, we may hit the jackpot in the portal as well.

It would honestly be crazy for him to spend years opining on how Ole Miss and Oxford have embraced him and changed his life, and then take the LSU job. Like literally insane. I mean, it could happen, but the Florida job is the one I could see him taking.

In a perfect world, Kiffin looks at how many schools around us are a mess (LSU, Auburn, Florida, State) and realizes how he can capitalize on it while staying at Ole Miss

This. Baton Rouge is an absolute shithole. I talk a ton of shite about Mississippi being a shithole as well but Baton Rouge is 10x worse.

I would almost put money on Summrall to LSU and Franklin to Florida. I honestly still think that Lane stays at Ole Miss. We need everyone focused on this season alone, and if we win, it all works itself out anyway. We will pay him, and if we do make the CFP, there's no reason to ever leave for another college job.

Yall have heard my thoughts on here a few times.

Personally I think he’s too close to the university to leave for LSU, which is why I am in the minority in saying Florida is a bigger threat. I think lane covets the LSU job but I’m just doubtful he’d betray Ole Miss where things stands. We all know there’s a difference between leaving for Florida and leaving for Louisiana State.

Still Josh Pate continues to say people would be shocked who would leave their jobs for LSU. Baton Rouge is a dump, Jim Bob is ridiculous, but it is undeniably a top 5 job.

Regardless I am happy Brian Kelly gets to be a lazy piece of shite somewhere else. Allegedly he isn’t finished being lazy and wants to coach…incredible given the talk around his time at LSU.

I will say we own a large hunting camp outside of Starkville…I personally enjoy Mississippi but there really isn’t even a city that is comparable to Baton Rouge, for better or worse. Jackson is way more third world and MS has a lot of nice smaller towns.

Not touting BR but just saying it’s much different than any MS city/town. There’s a lot of football talent nearby though

I know Kelly was just fired last night but there is way less of a press on Kiffin to LSU than it was when Florida opened up. Odd.

No problem paying that. Without blinking. Its worth it just to stay out of this coaching search, pool.

There's also this bit from Borkey. He makes a really good point. It may be harder than ever to get a good coach from a winning team.

Making the CFP pretty much guarantees Lane stays, IMO. LSU, Florida, Pedo State - those programs aren't going to sit around and just "wait" until after the playoffs to make a hire.

That said, I still think Lane is happy at Ole Miss and being in Oxford. Would be shocked to see him uproot his family at this point and move elsewhere, unless the NFL comes calling.

People tend to see what they want to see. Ole Miss fans give a million reasons why he is staying. LSU/Florida/Etc. fans give a million reasons why he would bolt. Media persons looking for clicks. The truth is that 9.9 out of 10 times you just need to follow the money (financial benefit) short term and long term. That applies to almost every "why did this/that happen" in all of history from wars to coaching hires.

If we pay the man, which might be to make him the highest paid college coach in history, we will likely retain his services no matter how the season plays out.

If he keeps winning all these things are true:

His price goes up.
It makes transition more difficult.
It validates the notion that it can be done at ole miss.
