I have a couple buddies who coach on the team. They are extremely excited about this season and in turn have risen my expectations. Everyone’s concern is obviously our difficult schedule, but when you consider that Alabama should have lost literally 5 games last year, A&M is unproven, and we have LSU at home. The SEC West is wide open and attainable for us. This is long, but it’s what they have relayed to me on each position this year.

QB: don’t believe the rumors of a QB battle. Dart has improved tremendously and everyone expects him to make a corral type jump from everyone I’ve talked to. The stupid mistakes he made last season should be fixed.

RB: Judkins (enough said), Bentley is a great second option and is finally healthy and ready to go. We just added to Oregon State RB who is going to be a decent option too. I’ve heard that Reescano the 4star freshman out of Texas is going to be great, but he needs to get a tad bit quicker. He has plenty of time to do that.

WR: maybe the unit I’m most excited about. Tre Harris from LA Tech is a stud. Franklin from UTSA was the best wide receiver in the G5 last year. Watkins was serviceable last year and will be better this year. The biggest surprise is how good Ayden Williams has been so far in camp. I know this is a big praise, but the staff feels he is the next up out of the Treadwell, AJ, Mingo, and DK group. Dayton Wade came on late in the season and became a decent option as well.

TE: the Memphis transfer is legit and has already been named team captain according to someone I know on the team. Obviously we know how talented Trigg is but he has continued to be a headcase throughout camp. Hopefully that gets fixed, but they’ve been having issues with him.

OL: the group on offense I’m most worried about. We return everyone besides broecker, but this group had Dart in hell for a lot of last season. Hopefully they have improved with another year together. We’ll see.

D-Line: Golding is going to a 4 man front. Jared Ivey, Pegues (who has fixed his conditioning), Zxahvion Harris (got into some trouble this summer but is too good to kick off the team) will be great, and Cedrick Johnson starting. Added some depth in the portal. I think this is the best D-Line unit we’ve had in a while.

LB: Khari Coleman is going to step up and I think he will be great. Also got named preseason 4th team SEC by Phil Steele. I think the Louisville transfer will be big here. 5-star freshman Perkins has apparently already been making big plays. The 4 man front will help take some pressure off this unit. I’m not worried about them at all.

DBs: my one concern. Two transfer portal CBs will probably be starters, and they could be great, but just are unproven so we’re just going to have to wait and see. The good thing is we do have depth here, and both of our safety’s return from last year.

I'm glad the coaches are excited about WRs. From a fans perspective, I think our weakest units, in order are Secondary, WR, and D-Line.

I’m higher on WR and D-Line than I am on O-Line. Broeker being on that unit really helped them look better than they were (and they still were pretty bad last year) but hopefully since four of them have had a year together starting they will be much improved. We’ll see. I think WRs and D-Line will be great

I plan on posting more throughout the season and about recruiting for basketball and football. I like RebelGrove but I’ve grown weary of Neal and want to start using this board more. Thanks

ETA: Neal and Zach also get upset when someone knows more than they do. I broke the news to a friend on Friday that Bol was committing to us on Monday for bball and zach heard about it from him and started begging for the source (I know two of our coaches on our team). Zach went ahead and wrote up a story anyway in case it was true and broke it right after Bol himself announced and claimed he knew the entire time. Just silly

Good analysis, one thing is I think Prince will be a starter at CB. Think Goldings D will highlight is cover skills better.

He showed some real promise last year at times. I felt like he has a lot of potential but was just very unpolished(could have also been poor defensive scheme).

Rivals went to shite after Dave Childers was forced out. Neal hated Ole Miss for a long time and it showed in his work. He's come around a bit but he's only doing the bare arse minimum to keep his job at Rivals.

I left Rivals when Dave left. Neal spent years bashing Ole Miss on a non-stop basis - add to the fact that Neal himself had stated he hated college football and didn't even watch it unless he absolutely was forced to do so. Yet, people were quick to wanting to pay his bills, regardless of how much he hates Ole Miss and hated college football. Chase was the only good thing Ole Miss' Rivals had during that time, as he did a great job covering baseball.

Neal lost access to any actual inside information within the program for a very long time. Most of his information was just repeating what other people were reporting, or him just making shite up out of thin air.

Yep. Neal was definitely an outsider. Before Rivals, he worked as a writer for some paper in Alabama, if I remember correctly. He would never miss an opportunity to bash Ole Miss. Then there was his buddy, the fat boy from the CL, Hugh Kellenberger, who we can all thank for asking the infamous question to Tunsil during the NFL draft.

I'm really not sure why any Ole Miss folks still pay for Rivals.

Neal was a reporter for the Mobile newspaper. He's always been a bit of an arrogant prick.

I don't think he actually hates Ole Miss or CFB....but he just feels the need to "be above all of it". Pompous AF.

Not to pile on too much but their podcast is the biggest waste of time. They’ll talk for an hour with 20 minutes being ad reads and never say anything at all of substance . No analysis or breakdowns or anything negative to say. It’s just so boring

Have heard this too.

Dart blew away the other people we assumed would be in the QB race and looks like a completely different player.

I have heard the same, but there is a big difference between looking awesome in practice as opposed to looking awesome against a live opponent. I like Dart and think he is the starter and the best of the QBs but I'm just saying that you won't be able to really tell from practice reports.

Michael Spurlock looked like a future Heisman contender in practice but in real games, he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when throwing the ball.
