Agreed. He was a really shite AD when you actually look at all he did versus all that he screwed up.

Disagree. Sugar Bowl victory alone is enough for me to overlook almost everything.

I don’t have a huge problem with Keith Carter. He’ll probably end up doing a decent job

I do, however, have a big problem with Boyce hiring him on the condition that Luke is automatically safe.

If you’re going to criticize him for the aluminum bleachers, then you’ve also got to give him credit for tPavilion

People have been saying that Ole Miss can't fire Luke because there is no AD in place to replace him. If Carter is anointed, that mean Ole Miss actually has had an AD in place then. He should be well prepared to make the decision. Of course, we all know that decision has already been made and we are stuck with Luke for the foreseeable future.

Why would Boyce want to keep Luke? Would he want to further alienate himself from Ole Miss alumni?

If you want inside information about Ole Miss, McCready is about the last person you should listen to.

Didn't McCready say that we weren't getting punished by the NCAA during the investigation?

Also, all these people saying KC has no experience as an AD which is why he's bad for the job. If people don't think a big name HC will come to Ole Miss then why do they think a big name AD will come here? If anything we need someone who hasn't been AD anywhere that can basically start from scratch. Yes he botched the party deck ordeal but he does have experience in fundraising. Other than the decks and people bitching about him not firing Luke is there really anything else negative about him?

Because the people that hired Boyce want to keep Luke. Supposedly Boyce prefers to fire Luke, but it’s not his call

The same people that schemed to get Boyce hired are the same people who told Vitter to hire Luke. Boyce is simply their puppet, and Luke is their boy

You mean the guy who didn't even want the chancellor job in the first place?

Boyce is the definition of a "tool", it doesn't matter what he wants. Boyce does as he's told and says thanks for the unearned check.

Because we are still in the SEC even if we are at the bottom. This equates to larger budgets/salaries and nicer facilities. It's also a program that is close to talented recruits.

It's not about "big names" it's about qualified candidates that have proven success. OM can absolutely pluck a rising star from another conference (like an AAC AD or HC).

I wish we'd at least take a look at Martin Jarmond, the AD at Boston College. Born and raised in North Carolina, came up through the ranks at Michigan State and Ohio State.

quote:

Martin Jarmond (born November 22, 1980) is an American college athletics administrator. He is currently the athletic director at Boston College having held that position since 2017. He was previously an assistant athletic director at Ohio State University and at Michigan State University.[1][2] At age 37, he became the youngest athletic among the Power Five conferences and the first African-American athletic director in Boston College history.

Who are these mysterious people you’re referring to? And if it’s boosters, why do they prefer to have a loser at the helm?

If the answer is “well because he gives them access to the program”, why does everyone assume that a successful, new coach would not grant the same level of access to the same boosters that fund our program? This argument about the good ‘ol boy network wanting to keep a limp wrist puppet in charge has never made sense to me. Who the hell cares if you have access to a program if it’s a shitty one?
