just ready for the shenanigans to be over with and for Kiffin to be gone

If the rumors are true that Keith is letting him coach through the playoffs....then that is the only outcome to me as a fan that I find absolutely unacceptable. Stay and shut up about it. Or go and shut up about it. But we need an answer tonight so we can go find another coach if we have to.

coach through the playoffs

If that happens, he is our coach next year.

Well, I guess Carter could sign something allowing him to coach us, yet be employed to LSU. That would be crazy.

LSU is not going to wait for Rebs to finish playoffs, and then sign Kiffin. He is gone this weekend, if he is coaching LSU next year.

This morning's update from Chase:

quote:

Congratulations on making it to game day for Ole Miss and Mississippi State. We'll have complete game coverage here on the site and a watch party and postgame show on MPW Digital's YouTube page. I'll link it here at the appropriate times. Please like and subscribe to the YouTube channel. Thank you for your consideration.

The Lane Kiffin saga reaches another day. I am on the phone with Neal currently while he drives to Starkville for today's game. We are telling you together what we are hearing at this hour. We both were on the phone a good bit yesterday as this prayerfully (maybe) nears conclusion. For some background, we have both heard independently of one another, that Kiffin and Tulane coach Jon Sumrall have spoken on the phone at least once, and possibly more, in the past couple days. Per sources, Sumrall was trying to get a feel for what Kiffin plans to do regarding the upcoming decision. Sumrall, per sources, prefers Ole Miss but absolutely doesn't want to get caught without an SEC position at the end of this cycle. Per sources, Sumrall is concerned that Kiffin will stay with the Rebels at the last second.

Sumrall and Auburn are far down the road, but there is a conflict. Per sources, Auburn talked to DJ Durkin about staying on a Sumrall staff before talking to Sumrall about that possibility. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but it was a red flag. Ironically, sources in Alabama believe if Kane Wommack gets a head gig, Durkin would be the top choice for defensive coordinator with the Tide. An Auburn win on Saturday could vault Durkin into the head job.

Sumrall is also a finalist at Florida, and the Gators are active in this scenario. They've talked multiple times.

Regarding Kiffin, multiple sources close to him yesterday indicate waffling with his decision. Those same sources believe the outcome of today's game could have an impact on his ultimate call, but Neal and I are both aware of how crazy it is that one in-game scenario could theoretically change this level of choice -- and how illogical it is that he's put himself in a position where it would be difficult to come back after a loss. Fairly or not, a loss today would be blamed on him. No matter what you think of CAA and Jimmy Sexton, they take care of their clients. Letting it get to this point is antithetical to their processes. It's where Kiffin's independent choices with PR have brought us here.

That's where we are right now. I'm not sure about timing past that. There will be a lot of national media in Starkville today and at least one national writer plans to be in Oxford on Saturday. Kiffin plans to leave the game and go straight to the north half final between Oxford and Tupelo in Tupelo. Ole Miss plans to make the decision for him if he doesn't decide soon. In what way exactly that happens, I don't know. One source said Kiffin was frustrated at Ole Miss' aggressive pursuit with Sumrall. Ole Miss obviously has every right to run a public search right now.

Some Kiffin family members, per sources, have leaned on him to stay in past days, while others are more eager to get out of town. This is the hard part of doing family sources. We have sources close to family members telling us completely different things. In addition to it being delicate, you end up in a circle. In equal amounts. Kiffin has at least justified leaving to friends in town.

I know everyone wants a definitive answer. There's just not one. I do believe we'll get to finality soon. Ole Miss just needs to win this football game. There is no 100 percent right now in anything related to this outside of the need to win the game.

I still think Layla is the one pushing him to leave - she doesn't seem like much of a "small town" type of person.

I could see it. I could also see fans cussing him out in Starkville making him feel that he’s no longer welcomed. Don’t think his ego could take not being universally loved

At least it's an early game so maybe too many fans won't be full of liquid bravado.

I agree on the Layla not being a small town girl, but how much does that really play when you have the $$ they do? You can fly wherever, whenever. I just don’t see that being a huge issue.

I liked what the guys on ESPN just said and I hope it plays this way - lane loves the chase and thrill of being wanted and courted but when it comes down to it he’ll decide to stay where he is because he knows how good he has it.

Yeah we are pretty damn frustrated he sent his family to Gainesville and Baton Rouge and no commented when asked

Can’t have it both ways lane

Reminded of this chorus of a country song

quote:

I thought that seeing other people was something I wanted
But I think I hate it if I'm being honest
It kills me to see you with somebody new

Thought we should see other people
'Til I started seeing other people with you

I guess it matters when you’re a materialistic bitch who whines because there’s nothing to do . Not even sure what that means. Read a book. Slow your life down. You don’t have to be going going going spending money and being busy to be busy.

We don't know for sure. All that may just be internet rumors. I don't know anything about Layla except for what she looks like.

We don’t know if it is Layla or not. Nobody knows anything for sure about anything and everything is speculation.

We do know that he is currently under contract as the coach of the Ole Miss rebels.

If you want Lane to leave or you don’t care what Lane does stop reading.

I think Kiffin is the best thing for our program so I want him to continue to be our coach. I do not care why or how he stays.

If we win today, Lane is fricked regarding his next move NOT US. He brought it on himself.

I would let Lane continue to coach, including the playoffs, so long as he was not doing anything to hurt the program. I don’t think there is any way that he could covertly hurt the program without someone knowing about it.

The longer this goes on the more likely
everyone else moves on, and we keep Kiffin.

This gamble could also turn out very bad but I am willing to risk Summerall in this process.

If he stays, for next season… I mean the head coach isn’t even advocating for his team now in a playoff run

It’s gonna be so strange and awkward like your parents fighting all the time and sleeping in seperate beds but being still technically married although they’re each openly looking for new suitors . How can the fans or team go on as if nothing happened ?
