We literally just hired AK 2.0, a mediocre coach that at best will maybe get lucky once or twice in 12 years and get in the tournament, get hyped.

I'm honestly not surprised anymore. I'm still annoyed about our wasted football coaching search with a search committee.

I share your feelings here, but I'm trying to tell myself he's gotten to the tournament 5 times as a head coach. So that says something I guess. IMO, it's not the same type of challenge getting into the tournament from a smaller conference. I am curious to see how it translates.

I just feel like this was a one chance kind of deal for the administration. Brand new state of the art buildings don't come around frequently, and it will be outdated soon enough. We can't afford to screw this up. I hope we haven't. I just don't really care. This team's attitude rubbed off on me as a fan.

Ole Miss basketball is more than just a coaching problem. Booster support isn’t great. Does Kermit want to start paying croots?

ETA: we could hire Thad Matta or Mike White but without booster support they won’t be able to “get” guys like they can in Florida or Ohio State.

Some places you just have to start winning first. Its unrealistic to think our students and alumni (not in or around Oxford) are just going to get invested in a mediocre product overnight. Win and they will come. Did UTenn or UFlorida have a faithful following before Pearl or Donovan?

The more I read about Kermit the better I feel about him. He overachieves more than AK with lesser talent. If he can hire a staff to help him recruit (former LSU coach) I think he has a real shot at being a badass coach. I like the defense first approach as well. His players play hard for him and he beats more talented teams enough to show it’s not just lucky. I think it’s taken him a while but he’s developed a formula that will definitely translate to the SEC. Hell it translated very well against us every time we played him

I don't know Coach Kennedy and don't claim to know anything about him - but my view is that he expended a lot of emotional energy into making Ole Miss competitive, and then slowly lost the belief that he could take it any further. Understandable,I think, after so many years. My hope is that Davis will be charged up by the move up the ladder to the SEC and will show a lot of energy in righting the ship and having the team back at the best of the Kennedy years in three years or so - and after that, who knows?

I mean, that simply isn't going to happen, even if the athletic department was in a position where we could play "the game" a bit harder. Now that Penny's at Memphis, I see us having a very hard time of getting good Memphis players, and good Mississippi players simply don't stay in state. We also have no pro presence and just hired a guy who's known way more for his coaching ability than his recruiting acumen. We have the worst basketball legacy in the conference. There's no reason a one and done would ever come here at the moment. It is what it is

I absolutely hate this hire. Guy comes in talking about players will respect the flag and national anthem. Where the hell did that come from? OM hasn't had a issue with that publicly so why bring it up? Why take such a public political stance isolating those who don't agree with your stance when it's not even a issue. Please fire Bjork and Vitter.

I hadn't heard that. Dammit! I get all the Bible-thumping and flag-waving I can stomach from other sources. I'd like somebody to just recruit and coach. I know I'm old, but what Johnny Vaught did was coach football. There's a lesson there, I think.

I'd get it if someone asked him the question on the topic, but for him to provide that unsolicited

He realizes that he has to recruit and that didn't get any easier with Penny hired up at Memphis

Absolutely. It's like he thought that would rile up the base. No one wants to hear his political stance 5 minutes into being announced HC. Who cares! Just made a non issue into a issue for no apparent reason.

Odd to bring it up but in no way does this upset me. If a recruit dislikes it he’s most likely selfish and I don’t want him.

VT Veterans Day

If y’all have never watched this, do it. It will really change the way you look at National Anthems at games.

I don’t think coach Davis was making any kind of political statement. I think he was talking about general discipline that includes respecting the National Anthem. I don’t think we have a problem with it at all now, although I would’ve liked to have seen Kennedy line everyone up like most all the other teams do. Our guys always looked disorganized when compared to the visiting players and how the all lined up across the floor during the anthem.

It is very sad. Which is why I don't want my coach making a stance 10 minutes into his opening statements. Wth are you doing? It will be used in recruiting. He wasn't even asked a question, he just offered this gem to other schools for free. Smh

So you’re saying other teams will use it against us? If you go to ole miss you have to respect our nation. Come here and we will stomp the flag at mid court.

Come on man no one will remember that speech in two months.
