IMHO:

Andy Kennedy >= Kermit Davis = Chad Morris > Luke

The only hope I have for our football team is that Luke can just manage / be the face of the team and our coordinators run the team.

Is it bad that our best hope for the football program is for the head football coach to not do any coaching at all?

As much as I hate it, we still have a good bit of the good ole boy club around. The whole athletic department needs to be overhauled plus the idiot Vitter. Start from scratch.

At this point I don’t care if they have never heard of Ole Miss and want to come. Get some of the ole timers out. Including some boosters. Keep Bianco and let the rest start looking around. And I know most of you know some of those older boosters who basically run the show. Go to the square one morning early and look for a big table of older guys sitting around eating. We’ve got to get this mentality of settling for people out of here. Search committee my butt. All we have are boosters and admin who likes to take it dry to keep some happy. Screw that. So what if we lose a few boosters. I’m sure if we cast a bigger net and threw money at a decent coach, either the boosters will still be there, or that coach more than likely has his own followers that will contribute.

The Davis hire is dumb. Good teams have passed him over. Why can’t we? Because we don’t have any balls in the AD and up. I bet hardly anyone has honestly been contacted about the opening. The search committees are non existent. I truly believe, even though we’re not a huge basketball school, that we could find a decent coach who could see he could sell Ole Miss to recruits with all the new facilities and other proposed plans. And y’all know I usually try to see the bright side and hardly complain but give me a break with this hiring crap. I mean we could have just kept Kennedy and players from wanting to leave if this was going to happen.

Yea, Kennedy needs a break for maybe a year, but you could pretty much count on him to have us decent. This year the team quit and even from the start they never gelled. There was to many “I’s” in that word team. And then the others just going through the motions. Kinda felt like they thought they were entitled to just play. These few BBall schollies we have aren’t just given to these guys to come here and put in work like it was high school. SEC is the big boy league and we need all 5 on the court plus the bench to play as if that scholly could be pulled at any minute and then see how they act. Freaking free ride to get a degree and take it for granted or not care.

I could go on and on, but it’s already a “holy wall of text” moment. Just had to finally vent and would rather do it on our board rather somewhere else and the trolls chime in. I bet I could find a better high school coach with no connections to Ole Miss and would do just as good and for half the pay. I do understand we’re not a basketball school. But we can do a lot better than this and get the program somewhat respectable. We didn’t or at least hope not build the new facilities while having a mindset of, at least it looks good, or just get us somewhat competitive. It’s starting to look like some “out” the higher ups can use to say we tried.

End Rant. Don’t blame you for not reading. Couldn’t stop once I started. Now back to our fun baseball team ha.

Eta. Probably a thousand typos from my phone and not really caring to double check while being frustrated.

It's funny how when he didn't have anything to do with the O line we had our first 1k rusher since Dexter and lets be honest the guy who replaced him wasn't amazing. He must be a terrible coach. Ill stop shitting on him in this thread. oh yeah hes making 3 fricking million dollars and he's not even qualified for a sunbelt job!

I thought Freeze had kinda gotten rid of it but after he got the boot all the good ole boys ran back into the athletic department and chained themselves to the building. We are worse than Alabama was before they hired Saban.

I would agree if we had experienced coordinators... We don't.

If the boosters run the coaching search, we wouldn’t have hired Kermit fricking Davis...

Our athletic department is a joke. frick Vitter. frick the IHL. frick Mississippi politics.

So we are paying a Kennedy buyout and then probably paying this guy more than Kennedy for more of the same. Really smart.

We should hire an escort to follow Vitter around. The sexless frick won’t have any idea until the rumors start, and no one will believe his innocence because he’d never be able to reply to the allegations convincingly. Everything Gumballs says sounds like he’s trying to lie about something unsuccessfully

I don’t know what the general consensus is, but I don’t know anyone in my family who likes him, and my mom’s side has some occasional bigwigs in it. I also know people in and around Ox with some clout who find Vitter’s awkward, impersonal nature to be a really bad fit for the University (I mean, it totally is).

In particular, a family friend and Oxonian who can move and shake with the best of our boosters hasn’t liked Vitter since he was at a basketball game at the Pavilion a season or two ago, and a Vitter was walking down the stairs without saying hello or acknowledging anyone (something Khayat and even Dan Jones would never do). The family friend said hello and stuck out his hand, but Vitter didn’t shake it. It’s like he’s always in his own little milquetoast world

I thought the same thing, but was totally fooled. I mean I figured they were still lurking around, and then like cockroaches they came running right back. Not all boosters are bad people. Just these that live and die by Vitters or Bjorks false promises.

And TOFTR, I may have worded it incorrectly. Like I said not all boosters are terrible people. It’s just some that may be higher up still want to think they run the show and Vitter or any higher ups don’t have the balls to tell them no. Again not all of them are bad. We just still have a few hanging around that we need to disassociate with and start over.

Vitter doesn’t have the balls to do much of anything because he simply doesn’t have balls in the first place.

And most of the boosters I know/am related to are just normal arse supporters, except for like the Tuohys, who give frickloads of money and have a building. They’re boosters because they donate money to the athletic foundation and to the University and spend time actively supporting the department beyond just buying season tickets and showing up. I know of plenty of the shadow coalition type, but I don’t personally know anyone like that. I know people who could be like that if they so chose, but it’s seemingly much better to hold your cards close so that’s you can’t play them when absolutely necessary. I do hope the grumbling about Vitter starts getting louder, and quick, but I think it might, especially if the NCAA appeal goes really poorly. I’m not sure how much Bjork is hamstrung right now, but he’s certainly more popular than Vitter. It’s one thing to let important people know your opinions, but it’s another thing completely to meddle/arrange bagmen/try to run the athletic department from behind the curtain. And things aren’t nearly as bad in that area as they were under Boone, so that’s good, and I really don’t know of anyone who would’ve pushed for Kermit Davis over like Steve Forbes, so I don’t think that was a booster move

Davis went 4-1 against Kennedy with far fewer resources at every turn than Kennedy. I'm just not seeing how they are the same.

I think Kermit will be able to put together a better staff. And he’s a little better in game coach. I think the combo of better staff and better in game will swing us the few games we need each year that seem to be missing. Hopefully he can transition the recruiting to this level though.

Obviously it will take some time if the roster is completely blown up. We shall see.
