Nirvana changed the landscape of rock and roll forever. They literally made mainstream music irrelevant for a few years. That puts them at least in the top three. I was 22 when Nevermind was released (1991), a child of the 80s. It blew our mind. Every song on it is still on my top playlist.

And yes, Foo Fighters is in my top three as well.

I'd throw in Bad Company, Steve Miller Band, GNR (original) and Tesla among others.

I don't know if they're THE greatest band in history but they're my favorite band of all time and easily the greatest progressive rock band of all time. I'd certainly put them among the Top 5 overall

The hag had an impressive list of hits

Mama tried
Fightin' side of me
Okie from Muskogee
Silver wings
If we make it through December
Branded man
The fugitive
Poncho and lefty
Hungry eyes
Working man blues
Big city
I'm a lonesome fugitive
Sing me back home
The legend of Bonnie and Clyde
Daddy Frank(the guitar man)
Carolyn
Grandma harp
It's not love(but it's not bad)
I wonder if they ever think of me
Everybody's had the blues
Things aren't funny anymore
Old man from the mountain
Kentucky gambler
Moving on
Always wanting you
Roots of my raising
It's all in the movies
Cherokee maiden
Bar room buddies
I think I'll just stay here and drink
My favorite memory
Going where the lonely go
You take me for granted
That's the way love goes
Twinkle, twinkle lucky star
A place to fall apart
Natural high
Someday when things are good
Let's chase each other the room

when they did country- they did it well

live- they can be sloppy, good to great then take you and dip you in the water and show you why they are the greatest band ever
