All of that would be unnecessary if we had a real free market.

Blue people move to cities while red people move to exurbs and rural, imo. The former won't admit its taxes, etc while the latter will.

They should do a map like this showing percent of the state that has been deported.

That's destiny unless we allow big cities to become independent from rest of state.

Alabama finally starting to see the growth levels that our neighbors have been seeing for decades (not counting MS obviously).

Haven't we been told that this is a good thing?

People moving to Tennessee should have to be a primary resident of the state for at least 3 years before they become eligible to receive state benefits like no income tax and in state tuition at UT.

I’m betting at least half of Bama’s growth came in Baldwin County (Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Foley, Fairhope, Spanish Fort). It’s busting at the seams. Most of the other half probably Huntsville metro. Complete opposite ends of the state.

Baldwin (Fairhope area) and Madison/Limestone counties (Huntsville) growing the fastest.

Lee (Auburn) is just behind.

Tuscaloosa and Shelby (south BHM) are growing also.

The rest of the state is mostly stagnant or shrinking.

Pretty insane to see the level of growth in the South. I'm surprised about NC, although the negative could be a typo. Missouri is the only negative value associated with SEC states.

Missouri not losing many, but most heading to warmer temps in the South!

God help Big Sky Country with left coast wack jobs infiltrating their land.

Somewhere between 15K and 20K. We got about 1500 in Austin, about 5K in San Antonio, 9K in Houston, don’t remember the Dallas numbers, but more than SA, less than Houston.

In a couple of decades we may see this trend reverse itself. As the South gets more expensive to live in and the temperatures get warmer places like Wisconsin might start to look real tempting.

And we are in the midst of the Great Retirement. The South is appealing for retirees, especially those looking to get the most for their dollar.

Alabama is just so affordable. I know a whole family that relocated to Shelby County from California. They had absolutely no connection to Alabama. A woman, her husband and their 3 kids (teenagers and college age) moved her because of the home land prices. Within 5 years, the wife's 3 sisters, their husbands and children ALL moved to Shelby County. But, they're all conservative catholics. They don't vote Democrat. My friend married one of their daughters. I had long conversation about this at the wedding reception. They despised California politics and the cost of living.

It just shows Missouri isn’t a sun belt/southern state

I laugh when any out of state midwesterner tries to call us a southern state. They have no idea
