Thread title says health insurance, and the message was directed at people that voted for Obama, which I did. I responded in-kind. Deal with it.

The premiums on the plan I got for my company has gone up almost 100% in 3 years.
The costs will go up 40% in 2017. I had a broker come in for all of my people and helped them just see if Obamacare would be cheaper (for their premiums) if I stopped offering healthcare as a benefit. It makes me sick to think that I might have to do that.
Not offering a company healthcare plan could be something that will hurt me in recruiting talent in the future.
I personally am fricked either way, whether I keep the company's healthcare policy or go to Obamacare. If you make over $113k you don't qualify for a subsidy. My middle managers are the ones who will be financially hurt the most by this horrendous healthcare system.

Got mine today. Our small business pays for ours. Last year it was $1250. This year it will be $1650. The year before Obamacare we payed $500.
We are currently shopping around. No way we can afford to pay that. I've paid health insurance for 25 yrs and we've used it (3) times. Total waste of money IMO.

Just for the record, everyone knows this situation was the real agenda right?
Create an 'insurance' system that is guaranteed to fail, leaving no choice but for the government to ride to the rescue with single-payer.
VA level healthcare for all. Hoorah

As to OP, blame the younger set for your troubles. For it to work it has to be adopted by most everybody to make the entire pool cost effective. Been discussing this for years with the DOI folks and the tax penalty was so small the young kids just paid it and still have no insurance.
If you want to lay blame, best to lay it 3 places.
#1 Lawmakers for not making the tax penalty higher.
#2 Middlemen from insurance companies and medical suppliers for not controlling cost excessive greed
#3 Using the federal system instead of the KY version that was actually working

The cost of health care is the problem. I don't blame Obamacare or the insurance companies entirely for the high cost of health care.
Three big reasons for the astronomical costs when compared to other developed countries.
1. Limited supply of doctors. If America could turn out doctors like we do lawyers, there would be more competition and thus reduced costs. But the AMA has this market on a fixed supply... it's somewhat rigged.
2. Big Pharma being able to charge whatever they want for prescription drugs with no real existence of a competitive market. And the line, "they need the extra money for research" is bullshite when they currently spend more money on marketing.
3. Lack of choice in health care insurance options. Again more competition/open markets = reduced costs
Unfortunately, Obamacare doesn't address any of these fundamental problems. And a single payer option would need to address #1 and #2 first for something like that to work,

Get a freaking high deductible and an HSA. Doing otherwise is just throwing money away these days.

What about any bull moose party member that hasn't spent every last waking minute of every day since they first took control of a house of congress?
Surely they deserve some hate for enabling the communist d party?
Look at it this way, no matter who wins next week, you're getting single fricking payer. Cherish your ability to see a doctor while you still can.

This, imo, is the biggest issue. The lack of competition, which is supported by federal law, is unbelievable. In Alabama, BCBS is pretty much your only option. And the fact that BCBS is a fricking non profit really gets me. When bored, check out their executive compensation.

Don't forget to add Clinton's donor to the back end of that.
Yeah, I'm talking about the Republican Party nominee that just a month ago voiced support for government-funded maternity leave, and a month before that described his healthcare plan which sounded exactly like single-payer.
Y'all think it's bad now? You ain't seen shite. Both that bloviated orange nazi fricktard, and that criminal bitchfaced lesbian count are going to bend you the frick over and drill your little sphincters with splintered bamboo dildos covered in Carolina reaper jizz.
