When you’re the public face of a university and football program that includes dozens of black players and staff members, just have a little awareness how your endorsement of certain opinions might be perceived. And let I checked, nobody was calling for Gundy to be fired. Gundy can believe in OAN and Hubbard can choose not to play for him because of it. Freedom, baby

So are people just not allowed to have more than one opinion now? IF we don't agree then we're just canceling each other.

For all this talk of free speech from some people on this site y’all sure do get real butt hurt whenever black players exercise their right to it.

No one is pushing back against Free Speech...it’s pointing out the absolute absurdity of ridiculous outrage.

We have a player outraged to the point of not playing over an OAN shirt...ffs I had to look up what OAN is. We also have ppl outraged and wanting to ban Chase of Paw Patrol bc he depicts cops in a positive light. Let those two points sink the fk in.

If he was wearing a CNN or MSNBC shirt, I'm sure everyone on here would be cool with it.

But because it's bullshite we agree with, it's ok? Yeah, it's a bad look and Gundy is dumb for doing this

I think the point people are trying to make is that it's a t-shirt of a news source. Given the station itself, is it tone-deaf with what's going on? Probably, and someone in Gundy's position should've known that it could hurt his chances at recruiting young, black athletes.

But it's one tv station. On a t-shirt that is clearly grunge and not super fancy or revered if he's wearing it on a boat or while fishing. Whether you agree or not, race is not the end all, be all determining factor on one's political ideologies. It should be a very big one, but obviously it goes beyond just that (polices, taxes, government administrative control on certain public aspects, etc.).

Looking at one shirt of a news source Chuba doesn't agree with and automatically assuming "I can't believe my coach is such a racist for watching that television channel" is a little short-sighted and premature of him to conclude that his coach no longer has his back.

Not being cool with it and demanding significant change at a state institution are seriously different things.

Also, it’s not like anyone should look to this board as any sort of standard for reasonable judgment.

If it's a "bad look" to wear a t-shirt for a conservative TV channel on a fishing trip with his sons, then it does nothing but show how far we've fallen as a society. People need to grow the hell up if that offends them. There's also about a .000001% any of his players knew what OAN was until they were told they should be outraged. I say this as a conservative who had never heard of the channel either until today.

The Intolerant left strikes again. They were the group that begged for Tolerance for years and the irony is they have now become the intolerant ones. I’ve been neutral about politics my whole life but the left has really pushed me right these last 2 or 3 years

I thought the Other Alternative News station was a low budget joke. However, my wife and I do enjoy their lifestyle shows. I believe the show is Behind the Gates. Definitely not geared toward middle America.

Really doesn’t seem that ridiculous. OAN calls Black Lives Matter a terrorist organization. Chuba is black and presumably disagrees with that statement and doesn’t want to play for someone who does.

They did create their own city within a city called "CHAZ".

Totally illegal, so terrorist organization...yea, they could be called that too.

I agree with that assessment towards BLM organization.

Most people agree, Black Lives Matter...at the same time, push back against the BLM organization bc they are nothing more than political terrorist group.

I’m sure Chuba had no problem with Kap wearing a Castro shirt...think of this environment and the change Chuba is wanting. I’m sure he supported Lebrons ridiculous stance on America vs support of China...

The selective outrage is getting very old

Eh, these are kids, man. I'm sure at times I felt very misunderstood or confused at that age. I'm also sure that Gundy, the guy that recruited him and gave him a shot, will sit down and give him every opportunity to confront him about it, man-to-man, and explain where he's coming from.

From what I've heard, Chuba and Gundy are not bad dudes.

He probably got it for free

How dumb to you have to be to be a college football coach with a far right new shirt.

I mean You got go out of your way to get that.

Not a smart move.

OAN does spew some whackjob bullshite. Good for Hubbard to call out his coach for being completely tone deaf to what's going on in America.

Is the coach not allowed to have an opinion?

We have reached peak wokeness when athletes are claiming oppression when they are literally given scholarships, tutors, and a free ride without doing anything but being able to run good. This is peak privilege. Must be nice.
