Since we're just combining two states. Almost every artist on this list had at least two number one hits. I don't care for most of them.

California seems like a good cultural fit as by well by these parameters with Merle Haggard, Gene Autry, Roger Miller, Buck Owens, Ray Charles, Lee Greenwood, Jean Sheppard, Glen Campbell, Johnny Horton, Dwight Yoacham, Linda Ronstadt etc etc

Many of those are not originally from California.

He's right about Texas producing country music talent, but when you consider the population, it's not like the y dominate as much as you would think.

Kinda surprised how few there are from South Carolina. I did a quick Google search and these were the top 7. I'm familiar with Darius and Josh but the others..not so much.
